"Play is often talked about as if it were a break from serious learning. But for children, play IS serious learning. Play really is the work of the child." - Mr. Rodgers. I love to see what their creative minds come up with. Today a fully functional train track! @CowartDISD
We love our ADL friends ❤️ Fun Friday with Ms. Hagler's class! We made homemade playdough that we turned into turkeys - practicing our fine motor skills, sequencing skills, cooking/life skills, color recognition and making choices! @CowartDISD#thecowartadvantage
Correspondence boards!! One pom pom per bottle cap. Our first step to learning the relationship between symbol and quantity @CowartDISD#thecowartadvantage
We've been talking about turkeys all month and today we learned and labeled the parts of a turkey! 🦃 Anchor charts are so fun for hands on learning and literacy skills ☺️ @CowartDISD#thecowartadvantage
Yes yes YES. Especially for trauma - but all kids need connection and to be taught the skills they need to be functional people. They don't need to be scared or bribed into behaving - that doesn't teach them to modulate their own behavior in the long run. Forever my soapbox!!
Today's PD assignment was self care ❤️ Thank you @LucySal26214212! Drink in hand, fuzzy blanket and book ready to go! After a whirlwind couple of weeks this is much needed! #selfcare#thecowartadvantage
Sneak peak at our pumpkin patch dramatic play center...small pumpkin clips- fine motor skills, different textured pumpkins- sensory enrichment, build a Jack O Lantern- shape recognition! Pictures of our weighing station and pie station to come! #thecowartadvantage@CowartDISD
It's #FunFriday in Ms. Bales' class! Homemade puffy paint to paint our very own fish bowls! Leaning how to sequence, follow instructions, and match images to real life objects - and having fun! @CowartDISD#thecowartadvantage
Happy dance because my babies are learning how to self regulate!! One friend paused to take a deep breath when getting frustrated several times today and used to safe place for a break instead of a tantrum - with no prompting!! HUGE steps. I'm so proud 🥲 @ConsciousD@CowartDISD
Y'all know I love me some fine motor activities! How fun are these tiny jars? Working on unscrewing lids and using a pincher grasp to put the pompoms in. So proud of how hard they worked! @CowartDISD#thecowartadvantage
When they come up with their own SEL activities ❤️ We talk about our feelings all day every day and I love to see it expressed in their play! #thecowartadvantage@CowartDISD@ConsciousD
