Album Review MeRCY (@MusicByMeRCY) - Cross My Heart & Hope To Die MeRCY comes out of South Florida but brings with him a classic East Coast vibe. On Cross My Heart & Hope To Die, MeRCY blends personal and introspective songs with dark, gritty bars over beats that range across both styles. With 18 tracks for a full length experience, let me talk about MeRCYs Cross My Heart & Hope To Die! . Cross My Heart is the first song and brings a menacing feeling that’s felt throughout much of this album. But that’s not to say everything is so gritty and dirty. Songs like Chun-Li, Lambo Dreams Nissan Nightmares, Kodak Memories, Love Hate Relationship & multiple more bring lighter moods. Still brining street lyrics to many of the tracks but less aggressive production. One Mike being a standout track for sure, bringing jazzy vibes and lyrics that make me think of the movie Harlem Nights. . But my favorite songs are the darkest ones, I just can’t help myself. Live & Die Rich has a Sci-Fi element to it that echos through the song while MeRCY chops it up verse by verse. SETH ROGAN brings that international vibe that really locks in with the mood of the track, as MeRCY spits a bunch of dope references, it’s a short track but one of my favorites. Death By 1000 Cuts is an easy highlight, with bars and flows as sharp as the title. Then Everglades Renegades brings one of the few songs with features, and MeRCY, Franco & Platini all went off on the musical yet raw beat. . This was a great album and MeRCY brings a lot to the table to enjoy. I liked the first half of the album a bit more than the second half but there wasn’t anything bad here by any means.
