Today is our Johnston County Attainment Summit | State of Workforce & Education: Apprenticeship Johnston at the Johnston County Workforce Development Center in Clayton, North Carolina. We are pleased to partner with @myFutureNC and the @CCOC_ClaytonNC to host this event. Our mission today is to convene local leaders, elected officials, industry partners, educators, and other key stakeholders to dive deep into apprenticeship models in Johnston County and truly consider what it takes to scale this workforce development approach to provide healthy, aligned pathways into the workforce for North Carolinians. According to our Across the Aisle research, 91 percent of parents and voters believe It's essential that our education system prepares students to succeed in the job market. Strong apprenticeship pathways takes a collaborative approach, requiring systems that connect employers, education providers, and community organizations to align training with labor market needs. #ATA2026

Our President & CEO, @cecilia_kholden, shared an update on NC's attainment goal and asked the committee to pass myFutureNC’s "Workforce Act of 2026,” which would fund ApprenticeshipNC, NCcareers.org, credential grants, and an expansion of a statewide digital transcript system that helps students transfer credits. The total funding request is $8.75 million.
