Received some clarifying info from Natural Resources Canada on Canada's 23.6M barrels contribution under the IEA stockpile release of 400M barrels. "Canada’s contribution does not rely on the deferral of seasonal maintenance at oil sands facilities. It is based on oil production increases expected to occur over the next 3 to 6 months. Market participants may export additional volumes of oil from privately-held storage in Western Canada. The Government has not established a specific target for these additional exports."

Belatedly, Canada joins other countries in saying it expresses its "readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait" of Hormuz.
