Danielle Smith’s separatist referendum puts us all at risk, but we cannot let our fears and anxieties take hold. We will not stand by and let the extremists who run the Premier also run this province.
We’re going to stand up and fight.

Two cabinet ministers ‘resigned’ yesterday, a week after they broke with the premier and opposed the government’s plans to force Albertans into a separatist referendum. Now, Premier Smith is finalizing the membership of her new separatist cabinet.
This cabinet shuffle does nothing for Albertans.
It’s still the largest cabinet in Alberta history. It still has four health ministers overseeing the destruction of public health care. It still has an energy minister allowing for coal mining in the Eastern Slopes. The Indigenous relations minister that recently had every First Nations Chief vote non-confidence in this government is the same. And it still has a municipal affairs minister that is hiring library inspectors.
This government doesn’t care about the needs of Albertans. It’s doing nothing about the cost-of-living crisis. It’s not creating jobs for the future. And it's destroying public services.
No cabinet shuffle can fix that.

Cabinet ministers resigning. A press release announcing the committee's decision before they had even voted. A cabinet shuffle in the works.
And now, Danielle Smith is expected to announce a separatist referendum. There's a lot happening.

Last week, two UCP ministers said they didn’t support Danielle Smith’s plan to ignore the courts and force a referendum for her separatist friends. Today, they both “resigned” from cabinet.
Danielle Smith serves only the separatists.

Reporting from the Globe and Mail shows that Sam Jaber — Danielle Smith’s handpicked board member of Invest Alberta — has been allegedly claiming CPA designation, despite not being registered in Alberta.
This is deeply concerning. Danielle Smith appointed this man to one of the most crucial boards in our province. Invest Alberta is critical to bringing good jobs and investment to our province, and needs to be led by the smartest businesspeople in the country, not friends and cronies of the Premier.
Jaber has already stepped away from Invest Alberta because of his involvement in the CorruptCare scandal and his links to Sam Mraiche. This latest revelation is even more telling about his lack of qualifications for this position.
The Premier chose Sam Jaber for this role. She appointed him. It’s now her responsibility to remove him from the board of Invest Alberta.

Wonderful spending time at a Mother’s Day tea with the Calgary Single Mother’s Society at the Genesis Centre today.
One of the things I love most about the Genesis Centre is that on any given day, you can walk through the doors and see people coming together, building community, and supporting one another.
