An American family has five kids and lives on $2,600 a month after taxes.
They’re told Obamacare is their lifeline.
The cheapest plan? $1,700 a MONTH with a $17,000 DEDUCTIBLE.
This isn’t healthcare — it’s garbage disguised as reform by Barack Obama.
I’m so over the mom influencers walking through grocery stores acting like the food police.
Pointing at products.
Calling them “toxic.”
Shaming moms who are just trying to feed their families.
You don’t know their life.
Their budget.
Their time.
Their mental load.
Motherhood is already exhausting, why are you making it heavier?
Also, your kids are watching.
This obsession with “clean eating” doesn’t create healthy habits.
It creates fear, guilt, and sometimes disordered eating.
I see it in clinic all the time.
And a lot of it starts in childhood.
Yes, we want our kids to eat well.
But if your version of “healthy” comes with shame and anxiety…that’s just plain sad.
@Tatiana1@UziCryptoo Do you have kids? Family plans (even the cheapest premiums with the highest deductibles) are still thousands of dollars each year.
@UziCryptoo Get the cheapest insurance you can with the HSA add on - insurance to cover extreme cases (God forbid), and HSA which is pre-tax money will cover all your doctor visits throughout the year. HSA never expires and you can pay for sunscreen on Amazon with it too.
My daughter recently had an ear infection.
Took her to the doctor, who prescribed an antibiotic.
That doctor visit cost $244. My insurance covered $60, so we owe $184 out of pocket.
I pay $556/month for family health insurance.
Something seems broken.
@EA_Rice 💯💯💯
Our food has been ruined for decades!
MAHA was supposed to handle this and I have not seen the dye free foods or anything yet!
Glad you got some quality grub and your summer bod! lol
I used to think the social media videos I saw about the food in other countries were BS, until I went to Italy for a week.
One full week of eating pasta, pizza, steak and gelato…I came home down 7lbs. We are being poisoned. It really is that simple.
@LauraLoomer Control babies crying? That’s not how parenting works. Babies aren’t machines - you can’t just flip an on/off switch. Also, some babies do cry for hours.
Is there anything worse than a crying baby on a plane?
I wish parents would control their children. It’s so disruptive. I refuse to believe a baby cries for 10 hours. At some point this is just bad parenting, right?
We listed our old house for rent 3 days ago. This morning I got my first ever call from a potential tenant. My very first one. I wish I was joking.
"Hi, I have a couple questions about your listing."
"Ok, fire away..."
"I have an ongoing medical malpractice case and was wondering if it was okay if I pay the whole year up front because I'm not working."
"Umm.. yeah, I think that would be ok? I don't see why not... I'm guessing that's why you're not working? If it's confidential, that's fine, just curious..."
"Yeah, that's why... it has to do with my foot and I can't work."
"Ok, what other questions do you have?"
"Do you have any dog restrictions? We have a 10 year old pitbull... she's my childhood dog... she's so sweet... never had any issues with her."
"Ummm... I think the HOA has restrictions on that breed." (Idk if they do, I just made that up)
"Ok, just let me know. Next question. I do have a felony on my record for vehicular manslaughter. The person survived and ended up with only a broken collarbone... and umm... my dad would be living with me, he's my caregiver, he also has a felony on his record but he already did his time. It was his first felony and will be his last felonly."
"Umm..."
"Yeah... I know it's a lot going on but I don't have any evictions or anything... but I did break a lease when I was 18 because I'm a single mom and well, um... some things we're going on and I was just in mommy mode... but I'm about to pay all that off once I get this medical malpractice money."
"Umm... we have a few other applications we're going to review and I'll get back to you."
I think I'm going to sell the house.
The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time.
The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more.
But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.
Nobody actually likes sauerkraut. If you grew up eating it & developed some sort of Stockholm syndrome complex, you have my full sympathy & I withhold all judgment. But there is no way a grown adult tries sauerkraut for the first time & says "yum... more please"
@TheNotARubicon@GrantSlatton My dentist said Im at risk for gingervitis cause I don't brush properly. I brush my teeth after I eat and my gums are pink and don't bleed. I think it's time to change dentists
insane that we tolerate living in a society where you can go see one dentist
and he's like "ya u have 13 cavities, will be $4000 to fix them all"
then see another and he's like "that guy was full of shit and trying to scam you, you're fine"
???
please get a library card even if you won’t use it because cities will look at library statistics and use that to decide to keep libraries open and properly funded
The dishwasher broke
My wife said "good thing we have the home warranty"
I said nothing
I've been paying $62 a month for three years for this moment
$2,232 for the peace of mind that when something breaks someone will come to the house and tell me it's not covered
I called
47 minutes on hold
They sent a technician
Arrival window: Tuesday through Thursday between 8am and 5pm
My analyst delivers faster than that
And he still hasn't fixed the gridlines
He showed up Wednesday at 4:47pm
Looked at the dishwasher
Opened the door
Closed the door
Touched something underneath
Said "not covered"
90 seconds
That's faster than my bank lets me prove I'm human
I said "what's covered"
He said "the motor"
I said "what's wrong with it"
He said "not the motor"
I said "convenient"
He said the service fee is $75
I paid a man $75 to open my dishwasher, close my dishwasher, and say two words
My analyst could do that
And he's not even that good
I called the warranty company back
38 minutes on hold
Requested the policy
129 pages
I read all 129 pages
Because that's what I do
The coverage section is 34 pages
The exclusions section is 58
The business model is right there
In the margins
Where nobody reads
Except me
Page 91 says "all mechanical and electrical components essential to appliance function are covered under standard service"
Page 104 excludes control panels
A control panel is an electrical component essential to appliance function
Their own document contradicts itself 13 pages apart
I highlighted both
Sent them an email
Subject line: "Plz fix. Thx."
Attached both pages
No other context
Took them three days to send a technician
Took them 4 hours to call me back when I found the loophole
Funny how that works
They covered the repair
Waived the $75
And I canceled the warranty anyway
Because a contract that contradicts itself isn't a contract
It's a suggestion
My wife said "so we're canceling"
I said "we're canceling"
She said "and the dishwasher"
I said "fixed. They're covering it."
She said "how"
I said "I read the policy"
She said "all 129 pages"
I said "the exclusions section starts on page 47. The coverage section ends on page 34. There are 13 pages between them where they hoped nobody would look."
She looked at me
Then she said "you're unbelievable"
I said "I just saved us $744 a year and got a free dishwasher repair. I'm not unbelievable. I'm thorough."
She looked at the ceiling
The dishwasher works now
The warranty is canceled
And the policy has been read
By at least one person
Probably the first
Make common sense common again
Plz fix. Thx.

@bethanyjbabcock I didn’t grow up with it and I’m not starting that tradition. We do egg hunts but the basket to me is an extra thing I’m okay going without.
I didn’t know Easter baskets filled with gifts and candy for kids were a thing until I got married.
I don’t love the tradition and haven’t adopted it for my kids. But I am curious how common it is here in the States.
Did you get a full basket on Easter as a kid?
Spoke to a teacher from New York.
Makes $140,000/yr with a 10 month schedule.
Retires in 2026 with ~ $90,000/yr pension + full health benefits.
Traditional careers like this can be game changers.
Why aren’t more people doing this?!
13 MONTHS?!?! Bro I barely even tracked my first baby for like a week & my second baby for 24 hours when I was in the hospital cuz they wanted me too 😭😭 You guys are not okay….. purposely doing things that are extremely stressful and contributing to high anxiety, and then y’all complain motherhood is hard.
