Rainy day — time for indoors recess with board games and puzzles!

We had 21 cookies between 5 students. How do we solve this problem if all students need to get the same amount. Today we learned about remainders, and we explored problems using materials and our knowledge of multiplication facts.

Are you fed up with feeling tired, sad and lonely? G2s have a solution for you! Not even one! Our last week of UOI our G2s are tirelessly working on their Well-Being Toolkits to persuade others take responsibility for their emotional, physical and mental health. #NISimpact

Cause and Effect Game: We learned about using conjunctions before start of a sentence such as “since” “due to the fact”, with an ‘effect’ card we picked up. Teams had to come up with our own reasons (cause) to make our own sentences. “Since I didnt eat I was desperately hungry”

Where does the data come from? G2 learners are inquiring into data and graphs. They came up with questions to ask NIS learners to find out if they make healthy choices. This week we visited elementary classrooms to collect responses. G2s created bar graphs to represent the data.

What so you need when you read books? Books, sticky notes, readers’ book and pencil! This week we took notes about the characters in the books by looking at what they do and say. #NISinquire

What strategies can you use to solve the number problems in your head? G2s are using their knowledge doubles/near doubles, friendly numbers and partitioning strategies to show how they manipulate with numbers in their heads! #NISinquire
