A 3rd home win of the season over 2nd place Widnes for Wigan #OnThisDay 90 years ago. They went 13-0 up after 10 minutes with tries from Innes, Seeling & Ellaby but the visitors roared back & it needed a late touchline penalty from Jim Sullivan (below) for a 15-13 victory.

One of Wigan's most memorable wins came in the Cup 3rd round at Huddersfield #OnThisDay 1937. The Fartowners looked to be heading to the semis until, in the 78th minute, Kiwi centre Gordon Innes sent his winger & countryman Eddie Holder (below) steaming in to seal the 8-7 victory

Castleford stunned Wigan 10-2 in the Cup round 3 at muddy Central Park #OnThisDay 40 years ago. Missing inspirational stand off Steve Ella, disjointed Wigan never recovered from a superb 44th minute try from visiting full back David Roockley (below). Cas went on to win at Wembley

Challenge Cup holders Wigan were stunned at home by Hull #OnThisDay 12 months ago. Leading 22-6 at the break, the Warriors were cruising into the quarter finals but 20 year old Hull wing Lewis Martin (below) completed a brilliant hat-trick in the 76th minute to seal a 26-22 win

Wigan Overseas Players #47: Graeme West (New Zealand) One of Wigan's best signings, the 6'5" former Kiwi test captain is a legendary figure at the club. A superb player who arrived in 1982 & played a massive part in Wigan's rise, he later coached the team with huge success too

Wigan's last game before the Covid lockdown was a defeat at Salford #OnThisDay 2020. Jackson Hastings' try at his former club gave Wigan a 14-2 interval lead, but Salford turned it around: Hastings' replacement, ex-Warrior Kevin Brown (below) scored on 72 minutes for an 18-14 win
