Not much to take from the one open #49ers rookie minicamp practice we just watched. A few quick thoughts and notes: - Niners were cautious with their drafted rookies in terms of participation. Most notably it was limited action for WR De'Zhaun Stribling and RB Kaelan Black in 7 on 7. - Throughout most of the practice, Stribling could be seen taking mental reps behind the play. He'd stand on the edge of the huddle, listen to the play call, memorize what his position and route would be then shadow whoever was playing the position. When the play started, he'd stay still about 5 yards behind the line but point out which direction the player running the route was supposed to go. - Niners DE Mykel Williams, who is recovering from a torn ACL, was seen on the side doing a lengthy workout as his rehab continues. Appears to be moving well this closely removed from his injury. - QB Kurtis Rourke shared reps with tryout QB Preston Stone. Rourke appeared to be throwing it well now that he's another year removed from knee injury that kept him sidelined for most of last year. Rourke is wearing No. 14, as is punter Jack Bouwmeester. - Some other rookie numbers: Stribling - 15 Black - 26 CB Ephesians Prysock - 41 LB Jaden Dugger - 53 OL Enrique Cruz - 69 OL Carver Willis - 74 DT Gracen Halton - 93 DL Romello Height - 94 - Six of the above eight rookies signed their rookie 4-year deals on Friday. The only two yet to sign are Height and Halton. - Among the returning or former Niners participating on Friday: DB Derrick Canteen, TE Mason Pline (tryout), OL Drake Nugent and OL Isaac Alarcon. - Black said after practice he's heard from nearly all of the Niners' biggest stars, including RB Christian McCaffrey, TE George Kittle and LB Fred Warner. He was particularly excited to note that his locker is next to Warner's. - 49ers will reconvene at the end of the month for the start of OTAs.

#49ers signed six of their eight rookie draft picks to 4-year deals. The only two unsigned: DE Romello Height and DT Gracen Halton.

#49ers adding Indiana edge Mikail Kamara as a UDFA means there will be four Hoosiers on the roster (along with QB Kurtis Rourke, DT C.J. West and RB Kaelan Black). My pal @GuyHaberman, who has spent a lot of time around that program, made a good point on his pod this week about the kind of guys Indiana now churns out under Curt Cignetti. Hard nosed, thick skinned guys unafraid to be coached hard. In this day and age, that's a good quality to have, especially for teams with coaching staffs that operate in the same way. Player development is nice to talk about but it's only really possible if all parties are bought in.

Former Notre Dame WR Will Pauling is signing with the 49ers, per source.

Former Penn State TE Khalil Dinkins is signing with the 49ers on a deal that includes $275,000 guaranteed, per source.

#49ers GM John Lynch said there's been no movement on a possible trade for WR Brandon Aiyuk. He said the team doesn't plan to release Aiyuk "right now." Says he's available and asks teams to give him a call.

The #49ers' 2026 draft: Round 2 (33): WR De'Zhaun Stribling, Ole Miss Round 3 (70): DE Romello Height, Texas Tech Round 3 (90): RB Kaelon Black, Indiana Round 4 (107): DT Gracen Halton, Oklahoma Round 4 (127): OL Carver Willis, Washington Round 4 (139): CB Ephesians Prysock, Washington Round 5 (154): LB Jaden Dugger, Louisiana Round 5 (179): OT Enrique Cruz Jr.

Cruz played both tackle spots in college and tested quite well athletically at the combine. He had the third highest athletic testing score among OTs there. A prospect the #49ers can develop behind their top three tackles and compete with Austen Pleasants for a roster spot.

With what (as of now) is their last pick, the #49ers selected OL Enrique Cruz Jr., Kansas.
