HE Penda Naanda chaired a side-event of the UN Palestine Committee on the margins of CSW-70, calling for justice and accountability for Palestinian Women and Girls, and the promotion of their rights, including their inalienable right to self-determination, freedom and dignity.

17/03/26: Ms. Lydia Indombo, ED, MGECW, joined Hon. Sen. Monica Mutsvangwa, Minister of Women Affairs, Comm. SME Dev.- Zimbabwe, in promoting Women’s Leadership in Public Life, at a side-event co-chaired by Namibia & Zimbabwe on the margins of the 70th CSW in NY.

On 13/03/2026, Namibia became the first country to present its Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), 9-19 March 2026, in NY. The presentation was made by Ms. Lydia Indombo, ED- Ministry- Gender Equality & Child Welfare

HE Penda Naanda received 22 students from Germany under the International Model United Nations Association Programme, and engaged them on Namibia’s history, development priorities and key highlights of diplomatic engagements at the UN and globally.

Mr. AvShalom Nghifitikeko, DPR, delivered Keynote Remarks at the 35th annual High School Model United Nations conference at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City.

NY-UNHQ: 17/2/26: Namibia and Germany co-hosted a side-event on “Delivering on the Pact For The Future: Progress Made and Way Forward”. The event was attended by many other Member States, the PGA-A. Baerbock and USG-Policy- G.Ryder.

Amb. Penda Naanda, and DPR AvShalom, met with Ms. Paivi Kannisto & Ms. Harriette Wright from UN-Women and discussed the need to strengthen collaboration on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda at the global, regional and national levels, in particular in humanitarian action.

H.E. Etleva Kadilli, UNICEF Regional Director of East & Southern Africa, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Penda Naanda on 6/2/2026. They reflected on the strong cooperation & partnership that exists between Namibia and UNICEF, and the impact of the UN80 Initiative on Namibia.

H.E. Mr. Penda Naanda, PR, met with H.E. Mr. Gheorghe Leucă, PR of Moldova, on 5 February; the two exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and reflected on the current geopolitical developments in the world.

On 5 February, H.E. Mr. Penda Naanda, PR, met with Namibians working in the UN System in New York to officially introduce himself to them since his arrival, and to wish them and their families a Happy New Year. He was joined by Mrs. A. Naanda, and by Staff from the Mission.

The African Union is following with grave concern the recent developments in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, including reports of the abduction of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nicolás Maduro, and military attacks on Venezuelan institutions. MEDIA RELEASE: NAMIBIA URGES RESPECT FOR INTERNATIONAL LAW AND VENEZUELA’S SOVEREIGNTY

18/12/25: HE Mr. Penda A. Naanda, PR, reaffirmed Namibia’s firm solidarity with oppressed peoples of the world during the Commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of the Declaration on the granting of Independence to colonial countries and peoples.

On 12 Dec. 2025, the Charge D’ Affaires a.i. & DPR, addressed African Students at Monroe University in New Rochelle, NY, and encouraged them to be deliberate in nurturing their visions and relationships in order to achieve meaningful and lasting success.

Mr. AvShalom Nghifitikeko, Charge D’Affaires a.i. & DPR, was pleased to welcome to the PMN, Ms. Stenah Shampile, DPR- Zambia. The two shared views and perspectives on issues of common interest in the context of the work of the United Nations.

Today, Namibia participated in the High-Level Meeting to mark the 10th Anniversary of the International Day of Genocide and the Prevention of this Crime, sharing excerpts from H.E. Nandi-Ndaitwah’s Speech of 28 May 2025- Namibia Genocide Remembrance Day.

5 December 2025: H.E.Penda Naanda, Permanent Representative of Namibia, met with Ms. Elena Feehan, Executive Director of the Global Fund for Widows. Discussions centered around Namibia’s priorities in the context of the 70th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
