The campaign’s own projections show their proposal depends on Nebraskans losing hundreds of millions of dollars to out-of-state gambling corporations, resulting in NE families losing far more money to online gambling than they would ever receive in tax relief. These figures also do not account for the broader economic and social costs of online sports betting, including reduced household spending and savings, money diverted away from local businesses, increased addiction and financial problems, and greater demand for social services.

Today, as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we must not lose sight of the values our forefathers dedicated their lives to secure. Without morality, we cannot have freedom. There is a growing battle for the hearts and minds of the next generation and for the future of our country. And this is not a political battle; it’s a spiritual battle. We need the moral courage to live as men and women of faith who will not shrink back in this critical moment, but confront the lies and ideas that undermine truth with boldness and love, regardless of our circumstances or the challenges before us. We must speak the truth with love, live out our faith, and contend for the well-being of our neighbors even when it’s unpopular. God chose to put us here, to be in this time and in this place, to be a light for Him. And while we don’t get to choose the times we live in, we do get to choose what we do with the time that has been given to us. We just helped turn in more than 211,000 signatures to the Nebraska Secretary of State to protect fairness, safety, and equal opportunities for female athletes during a press conference at the State Capitol. This is the largest number of signatures ever submitted for a ballot measure in Nebraska history! Four years since the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs v. Jackson decision, Nebraska continues to lead the nation in life-affirming public policy. And we're not slowing down. Nebraska was the first state to end late-term abortion, offer commemorative birth certificates for miscarriages, and, in 2024, Nebraska became the first state to pass constitutional protections for the unborn through a voter-driven ballot initiative. NFA just joined an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to strike down an FDA rule that allows abortion drugs to be prescribed without an in-person doctor visit and sent through the mail. Life is winning, and we won't stop advancing a culture of life so that every human life is protected from conception to natural death.

Lincoln City Libraries is facing backlash following a display of Pride books the library put out near the entrance of its Gere Branch Library. A video taken by Bill Jarrett, a former chief deputy for the Lincoln Police Department, went viral over the weekend. “Totally disgusting,” he said, noting that any children wanting to access kids’ books had to walk by the display. Jarrett said he was outraged that the “first thing” his grandchildren saw when they walked into the library was books pushing LGBTQ+ content for children. “Is this really what we should be advertising for kids?” he asked in the video. About half a dozen of the books on display were aimed at younger kids, including a book about a non-binary kid, a book introducing kids to gay history and culture, a book meant to introduce the concept of gender identity to four-year-olds, and two books that introduce the concept of gay parents to children as young as three. The South Branch Library also contains a permanent mural that includes a “trans-affirming” squirrel.

A clear look at the messaging, tactics, and numbers behind “Tax Relief Nebraska” shows it is perhaps the most deceptive ballot initiative campaign in Nebraska history. Petition circulators for the pair of gambling ballot initiatives are reportedly approaching voters with misleading and materially false statements, including claims that online sports betting is already legal in Nebraska and that their petitions do not legalize it. The campaign’s own projections imply that Nebraskans would lose approximately $87 million each year and $435 million over five years to online sportsbooks. This means that for every $1 returned in “property tax relief,” Nebraskans would lose roughly $7 to online gambling. The campaign supporting the initiatives has been funded almost entirely by national gambling corporations that have already contributed over $7 million to influence the election.

“Tax Relief Nebraska” is lying to Nebraska voters to convince them to sign a petition legalizing online sports betting. A local voter asked a circulator, "So does it legalize online sports betting in Nebraska?" The "Tax Relief Nebraska" petition circulator answered, "No, ma'am." And then doubled down on this claim.
