Today, we honor the martyrs of South Korea's April Revolution, when students and workers toppled Syngman Rhee's US-backed government. Although Rhee was ousted, he was soon followed by US-backed dictator Park Chung-Hee. The struggle against US imperialism continues to this day.

Bloody Tuesday: On April 19, 1960, police killed 180 demonstrators demanding the resignation of Rhee Syngman, South Korea's first president. Rhee resigned 04/26 Today we remember the 4.19 Movement or Revolution—the first time South Koreans overthrew their govt, but not the last.
