NEW: The Ford government tried to quietly close the public feedback period on its new education bill, changing the deadline to submit comments from May 13 to May 4 without notice. They reversed course after we asked why they were limiting public input: thetrillium.ca/insider-news/e…

#BREAKING: The Ford government just scheduled late-night sittings – until midnight – to ram through FOI changes. Just when you thought this government couldn’t get any worse, they’re now scheduling late night sittings to quietly change the rules, hoping to keep Ontarians in the dark.

Doug Ford uses his phone for government business. The courts ordered him to release his phone records – so now he’s changing the law so he never has to. What is Doug Ford hiding?

Very confusing hearing the Education Minister suggest in an interview that trustees have had a hand in curriculum. For clarity: no. The Ministry has full responsibility of the curriculum, and the current government has been in power since 2018. So odd. #onted #onpoli

As parents, we'd do anything to support our kids.    When your child needs extra help at school, they deserve caring adults who have the time and capacity to be there for them. But with fewer staff in classrooms, many families are left wondering: who will their child turn to?   Hundreds of teachers across Ontario are losing their jobs because of this government’s cuts to education. And it’s our kids, our educators, and our families who are paying the price.

Teacher input is key to getting this right. A one-year program may bring in new teachers sooner, but without improved working conditions, it fails to address retention. A sustainable solution must address all #OntEd challenges, including class size, violence, and underfunding.

Yesterday was World Autism Awareness Day. What our friends and loved ones in this community need is for us to take our awareness and move to action. Far too many Ontario kids wait for support. These kids and families deserve better and this must be a real priority. #onpoli #onted

Leadership is about choices, and this government has chosen to allow 67,000 children languish on the autism wait-list. Families don’t need more words, they need action.

To #OSSTF Members: You have seen Minister Calandra’s recent letter. Its tone was unacceptable. Let’s be clear. You do not need lectures on professionalism. You demonstrate it every day through the care, time, and effort you put into supporting students and making milestones like graduation ceremonies meaningful. What is missing from the Minister’s message is the reality in our schools. Provincial underfunding and understaffing are leaving students without the supports they need. You are the ones holding the system together. We see you. We value you. And we will always stand up for you. In solidarity ✊🏽
