Today Russians attacked near Lyman. With the help of drones, Ukrainian infantry brigades destroyed 2 tanks, 5 APCs (BTR-82AT and BTR-70M), 5 BMP-3, 2 BMP-2, and more than 40 ATVs(!). A decent number of IFVs were stopped with the help of remotely placed mines. Massacre. We knew that they were planning to attack. Everyone was prepared. Two days ago, at Porkovsk direction, the 6th tank regiment attacked and lost 3 BMP-2, 1 tank, and approximately 10 ATVs. A lot of other equipment and personnel were lost near other villages at Pokrovsk direction. Spring exacerbation?

@historicfirearm It might. But in that case fibre drone targeted the exact place of a driver.

@WillKnowler Yeah. Tank like that burned today. But the thing is that 254 regiment gave their BTR-70M to 488 regiment. So whose loss is that?)

@Mihai26001112 All the credits to infantry brigades and their pilots. They did the mining, targeted vehicles during their manoeuvres etc. My SBS brigade targeted mostly abandoned and burning vehicles (SBS style).

This post is related to my previous one. Efficiency of targeting by artillery and FPV drones from the Russian side. Porkovsk direction. February 2026. - 1232 regiments fired 316 shells (122 and 152 mm). The efficiency was 0.5 and 0.8%. And launched 480 FPV drones. The efficiency was 57%. - 1195, 1438, 1452, and 348 regiments fired 1146 shells (122 and 152 mm). The efficiency was 1,61 %, 0,78 %, 1,65% and 1.55%. 1452 managed to open fire 146 times and hit zero times. At the same time, the efficiency of the launch of FPV drones was 54% (500 FPV were launched), 62% (480 FPV), 64% (691 FPV), and 33% (353 FPV). There are multiple reasons for the low efficiency of the artillery: from bad and different types of ammunition to unclassified artillerymen. Also, I need to add that these regiments are far from being good ones and were created in the 2022-2023 period.

@Gegelebelier @Diator84 You partly right and in the same time wrong. Seems like you do not know how does artillery work in 2025/26.

@Diator84 @OSINTua Real-life example. A belligerent launches a mechanized assault. The opposing artillery receives a fire mission to stop it. One battery fires 48 rounds before withdrawing to avoid being neutralized. 48 rounds fired, no IFVs destroyed. 0% hit rate, but the section is repelled.

@SashoTodorov1 It changed a lot since that ORBAT. They even have BM-21 right now (not all of them). Artillery battalions usually have 14 D-30 instead of 18 (due to the new structure).

@OSINTua Have they been outfitting the TerB regiments with artillery divisions? I thought that they only had mortar batteries.

@HonzaStropek Last summer I was a battle captain and called for artillery support from 45/26 artillery brigades approximately 100 times. In general it was not bad when they had Indian shells. But when American — Mama Mia.

@OSINTua I'd expect the Ukrainian artillery to reach much higher percentage points, can you confirm?

@M0nstas In most cases regiments hold the line. Only battalions may be withdrawn to polygon.

A video on how an Iranian FPV drone attacks a military base in Iraq reminded me of recent data about Russian losses in this war. One of the regiments under 8 CAA suffered 725 KIA since the beginning of the year, where 90% where caused by drones, 7% by remote mining (that also made by drones), 2% by artillery, and less than 0.5% by close combat with small arms. After 4 years in Ukraine, the world is far behind in the real understanding of the transformation of warfare. Developed countries continue thinking that UA and RU are fighting with drones because we are poor and technologically backward (and it's only partly true). Destroyed Russian KVN drone that was placed for ambush behind the frontline.
