Observing the PCA Affinity Group

Attempting to reform and seek repentance in the PCA so great for God that it’s doomed to failure unless He be in it.

PCA TE Randy Nabors at the Perimeter Church Race Roundtable discussion: “I’ve met Christians who are Native Americans, and they hate white people, and they love me. I’ve met Africans who hate colonialists, and they love me.” This is reckless speech that slanders whole groups.
Woke Preacher Clips@WokePreacherTV

Nabors: "I live with a black woman who is angry at white people...I feel her pain sometimes, and the black people in my life that I have come to love, they're angry and they hurt deeply, and I don't understand how they can love me."

If I were charged with a crime by the local DA, that would be known by all. Why is this not the case in our churches? "Contumacy" does not tell us what the original charges were.

This incident was documented in Shepherds for Sale by Megan Basham. To date, neither the pastor nor the Session of PCA Perimeter Church has issued a public apology, confession, or statement of repentance.

As a PCA elder, I found this profoundly painful to read: “‘Just a few minutes before, you were smiling and chatting with the African American next to you. And then, suddenly, you’re being put through this kind of struggle session.’” —@megbasham

In a sermon, PCA Perimeter Church TE Randy Pope asked white members of the congregation to clap as a gesture of asking forgiveness from minority members for “systemic racism.” Grieving for the Lord’s sheep who were put through this shame and humiliation. Lord, have mercy.

FRIDAY FUN: "If any of you would like to join me in asking forgiveness to our minority brothers + sisters...let's do so by means of applause right now." Randy Pope, former senior pastor of Perimeter Church And yes, you know exactly where this one had to end up.

I'm pulling on the thread of this new PCA church plant, Kindred Hope, and would like your opinions on what's going on with it. In a May 2023 podcast, Howard + Kellie Brown explain why they left their previous church. I will just leave a transcript here to avoid editorializing: "We were always more white than black, and we got to a point where our hearts were wanting to say more to black folks...There were things that we saw that black folks were dealing with and going through that we wanted to just address wholeheartedly, but a few times when Howard would do that, folks would complain and say, 'Hey, I'm a white person. What about me? I feel left out.' And so that came to be more of a hardship. Because we understood the need for our white congregants. I do think some folks who go to multi-ethnic churches have to constantly be educated on what it means for them, whether you've been there 10 days or 10 years. That just became a strain when the white folks are saying, 'Hey, we wanna go over here,' and you're looking at the black folks and recognizing that they actually need to go somewhere else through the ministry of the church. So that was one of the major issues. And then COVID wiped us out. White folks were a lot more ready to come back to church, and they did once we opened. And our black brothers and sisters were really very nervous and skeptical about coming back to church, even when precautions, we had all the precaution. For black folks, it still just didn't feel safe."

Some follow-up questions: ~It’s been three years since Perimeter Church announced its intent to plant Kindred Hope Church, so why hasn’t a single service been held? ~Where is all the money going when the church isn’t even meeting? ~Why isn’t there a timeline or launch date?

Don’t miss this. The American church-planting arm of the PCA, which is called the Mission to North America (MNA), has co-sponsored an openly kinist church in Atlanta called Kindred Hope. The PCA is doing this while multiple of its white pastors are under investigation for pushing (you guessed it) kinism.

PCA TE Bob Flayhart of Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church addressed the “white church,” urging members to “close our mouths,” drop the reflexive use of “but,” and prioritize listening to and learning from the lived experiences of people of color. Evangel Presbytery, Central Alabama

No to standpoint epistemology and white guilt. No to surrendering biblical truth to cultural categories. Yes to discernment. Yes to the gospel.
