The highest rates of infant mortality remained amongst infants of Black ethnicity, infants with a birthweight under 2,500 grams, or infants with a mother aged under 20 years.

In 2024, the main cause of death among infants aged one month to under one year continued to be congenital malformations, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities (26%) For children aged 1 to 15 years the main cause of death continued to be neoplasms (27%).
