The Open Mic 🎙
@OpenMicXL8
A friendly community where #translators 👩💻👨💻 share their stories and where clients find professional #freelance translators. https://t.co/T56qWaJvP1

Meanwhile translators are routinely left out because, and I quote: “Our agency didn’t give us the names” Perhaps #gamedev folks should really start putting their money where their mouths are and work with loc companies that champion their translators instead of hiding them? 🤔

Anyone who is part of the game development process is a game developer. If you're in the credits of a game, you worked on the game. End of story.

Can we talk about how damaging this kind of press is for #gameloc? Not a single professional translator I know works for such pitiful rates. And yes, the article goes into more detail, but imagine you are a developer looking for quick answers and just reading headlines...

Bad translations happen, sometimes by mistake and sometimes by malice, but it's rare, and the solution is to design the system for easy reporting and quick live fixing. Works well for Wikipedia!

@itranslategames The other choice is not to give anything. There are people for whom seeing any software product, be it a game, a social network, or anything else, in their language, is its own reward.

@loekalization Many more people can write sentences in their natural language than write working code in a programming language. Yes, localization also requires some skills, but they are much easier to learn than programming.

Twitter community, Last night, a six-foot wave of ice water engulfed our house and took most of what we had. If anyone can offer any help, to help us recoup some of what we've lost, we would be most grateful 🙏 #indiegamedev #gamedev #gamewriter #authors gofundme.com/f/help-michell…

I've just begun the final level of my game. Still more to do with the other levels, but the last of the story pieces are here. #gamedev #indiegamedev #ue4
