Today, @TeamKerzner unveiled our government’s $3 billion plan to add more than 2,500 adult correctional beds across Ontario. People across Ontario are feeling the impact of global uncertainty and President Trump’s tariffs on their household budgets. That’s why we’re doing everything we can to cut taxes, lower fees and make life more affordable for Ontario families.

Our family stands on the strength and devotion of these three women. My great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother truly personified the meaning of motherhood and grace. I am immensely grateful for the sacrifices they made to build a better life for our family. We would not be where we are today without them. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in Pickering-Uxbridge and across Ontario.

As Canada stares down tariffs and economic uncertainty, our plan to protect Ontario is working. In April, Ontario led the country in job creation, adding 42,400 new jobs, including 8,700 new manufacturing jobs. That’s 680 per cent more jobs added than the United States last month, adjusted for population. With a target on our economy, we can’t let up. We’ll keep lowering costs for families and businesses, cutting red tape, speeding up approvals, training workers, securing investments and creating better jobs with bigger paycheques. That’s how we protect Ontario.

I was pleased to join the Public Policy Forum Awards Ceremony last night. The energy and conversations in the room were forward-looking, ambitious, and focused on the opportunities ahead for Canada’s economy, institutions, and global partnerships. Last week while in New York, I was pleased to join Bloomberg to discuss how U.S. tariffs are raising costs for workers, families, and businesses on both sides of the border. It’s time to come to the table and move forward to grow our economies, create more jobs, and strengthen competitiveness across North America.
