Remember that article "Where's the Shovelware? Why AI Coding Claims Don't Add Up"? mikelovesrobots.substack.com/p/wheres-the-s… Turns out the observations were too early. App releases are on the up! I just spotted that @shiri_shh shared this graph of iOS app releases. Domains are ticking up too.

The mildly titillating feeling of having an idea for an app, setting @OpenAI Codex off to build it, then going to bed.

In case you were watching the stream earlier and wondering "will Brent try to fix the dancing baby DVD logo OBS animation?" (r/wholenewsentence), yes... and it works now after Codex learned how the animation is supposed to work.

Nothing amuses me more than asking LLMs for a joke. Because they are so so bad at them. Today's I asked for a joke about sausage dogs: "Why don't sausage dogs ever play hide and seek? Because good luck hiding when everyone knows they're always being "sausage-ed" in the park!"

I've written a post containing some tips for giving better presentations! None of these tips can replace great content, but they will help you start strong and keep the energy going all the way through to the applause at the end. philna.sh/blog/2026/03/0…

@dkundel @npmjs @github That’s not something I came across because I was doing this with an existing package, but good question. I think that publishing now at least requires 2FA, so you can’t be forced into publishing a new package easily.

@philnash @npmjs @github This is great! the one thing I still couldn't find an answer for is: are you really expected to publish the package the first time using your account before you can go to trusted publishing?

I updated an npm package to publish using @npmjs/@github trusted publishing, but it took me a few goes to get it right. These are the things that I needed to do to get trusted publishing to work for me: philna.sh/blog/2026/01/2…

@csswizardry Remember the original Twitter app did this without anyone’s permission! Back before iOS made you give access to contacts, you’d just install it and it would upload them.

Your phone contacts isn’t your data, it’s lots and lots and lots of other peoples’ data. I’m stunned that this feature was ever implemented anywhere. Giving everyone else’s phone numbers to a third party without their consent?! 🤯
DogeDesigner@cb_doge

If you want to find your phone contacts on 𝕏, just turn on this option. It helps 𝕏 connect you with people already saved in your phone. Settings → Privacy & Safety → Discoverability and Contacts → Sync Address Book

A React app that has a useEffect that listens to the window resize event and returns whether the screen is mobile or not so that different images can be displayed? These are the lengths that React developers will go to to avoid learning about the <img> tag's sizes and srcset.

Wrote a new blog post. This is the story of how I tried to add one month to a JavaScript date and discovered the result was 9 months earlier. Yes, the problem was time zones. Even though the time didn't matter. philna.sh/blog/2026/01/1…

Discovered the contact form on my website was broken and ended up learning how to set up trusted publishing to npm. So that was quite the rabbit hole of an evening.
