It's great to see @Ben_Wray1989 back with @project_gig! These reports will be essential for unions and workers to build capacity on key issues such as the algorithmic management, on which knowledge gaps need to be filled if we want to rebalance the power of digital platforms.

Von Der Leyen did deals to buy Pfizer vaccines worth billions by text. She deleted the texts to avoid public scrutiny. The European court of justice has now ruled that she broke the law. A victory against corruption, but we'll still never know what was in the texts. #Pfizergate

Thanks to @Ben_Wray1989 for the opportunity to report about the struggles of platform workers for fair working conditions. I hope @project_gig will find soon another funding source that will allow to keep giving voice to gig workers against the power of exploitative platforms.

My cooperation with Ben and @lracrr also resulted in a series of investigative pieces funded by @journalismfund on gig workers' road accidents and platforms' insurances, another enriching experience that shed light on the problems of food delivery sector safety issues.

The Gig Economy Project comes to an end, at least for now. And this is really sad news. Thanks to the incredible work of @Ben_Wray1989, this project grew and gained widespread recognition that made it the go-to source about #platformeconomy and #gigwork in Europe.

What is clear is that the approved text is a compromise "ad minima", a strong EU-wide approach on employment presumption did not pass, and national implementations of employment presumption will be key

After 800+ days of negotiations, habemus EU Platform Work Directive! It didn't seem possible some weeks ago, when the watered-down compromise by the 🇧🇪 presidency was rejected by 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇬🇷🇪🇪, or after the 🇪🇸 text was not even put to a vote at the Council last December.
