. @Lukowoyesigyire "The Kampala Metropolitan Police has conducted a series of disruptive operations across its policing areas, targeting criminal hideouts, black spots, and individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities. In Kira Road Policing Area (Mulimira and Kyebando), an operation led by the Divisional Police Commander resulted in the arrest of 31 suspects, who are currently detained at Kira Road Police Division pending screening and fingerprinting. At Ntinda, a patrol team intercepted suspected criminals in Kigowa. The suspects fled, abandoning dangerous weapons and housebreaking implements, including pangas, hammers, iron bars, sticks, and jerrycans containing suspected fuel. Two suspects were later arrested while hiding in a residential garage. Preliminary findings indicate they were allegedly planning arson attacks linked to a land dispute. Investigations are ongoing. In Nateete (Kanaala Zone), a suspect was arrested in possession of four suspected stolen motorcycles and multiple number plates. He remains in custody as verification of ownership with relevant authorities continues. In Entebbe (Bunono and Guda), 31 suspects were arrested during operations targeting theft, burglary, and vandalism. The suspects have been charged and are pending court proceedings. In Kasangati Division (Wampewo Ward, Gayaza, and Kijabijjo), operations led to the arrest of over 47 suspects from betting centres and known criminal hideouts. Additionally, two suspects were arrested in Kijabijjo for operating an illegal garage used to dismantle suspected stolen motorcycles. Several motorcycle parts, number plates, and vandalized components were recovered. Police note that some criminal elements are exploiting betting centres, unfinished buildings, and makeshift structures as hideouts. Ongoing operations are addressing these developments. All suspects remain in custody pending screening and subsequent court action where applicable. These operations have been successful, and Kampala Metropolitan Police will continue efforts to eliminate criminality and ensure public safety.

"Notably though, the security landscape is becoming more complex associated with violent and transnational crimes including aggravated robberies, illegal proliferation of firearms, terrorism, trafficking, and cybercrime. All of us in this space must rise to the occasion and work collaboratively in an integral manner to tackle these multifaceted security challenges. The rationale for this training, therefore is to professionalize and align PSO operations with national policing standards. The industry is rapidly growing-a positive trajectory but growth and responsibility must go hand in hand" @igp_ug1

Today, the IGP presided over the pass out of 7,018 private security guards at Police training school Olilim, Katakwi He observed that the private security organizations contribute to the country’s socio-economic transformation agenda and most importantly supplement Police’s effort to provide and security. I highlighted that this training marks a significant milestone in the lives of private security guards and shouldn’t just see themselves as employees but rather as the first line of safety, vigilance and trust in the communities and organizations they serve. I urged them to carry forward the values instilled during training like discipline, respect and dedication. Remember your uniform is a symbol of reassurance to the public and a deterrence to those who intend to harm others.

// @igp_ug1 "Let there be no doubt, PSOs in any form or shape, the objective remains to complement UPF in internal security of Uganda. We are better-off working together to solve any divergent views. I feel sense of refocus and positive energy in our working relationship. Consequently, when the PSOs are fully capacitated, UPF would cede non-core duties and foster synergies to achieve the desired end state-secure and peaceful Uganda.

My position is that for the industry to remain focused on their core roles, effective police oversight, improved welfare of guards, standardized training, effective firearms management and accountability must be prioritized.

The private security sector serves as the first responders to incidents at various premises. Your vigilance is a critical layer in our multi-layered security response. Today, I am very excited that we assemble here to witness transition of over 7,000 patriotic Ugandans from temporary service as Election Special Police Constables into a professional role in security through Private Security Organizations.

// @KawalaRachael "Following numerous complaints about panga-wielding thugs terrorizing residents in Kawempe and surrounding areas, an intelligence-led operation was launched on 21/04/2026 along Tula Namere Road in Kawempe Division, Wakiso District. The operation led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of several crucial exhibits. The suspects, identified as Serwanja Najjib and Derrick, were apprehended following a search. Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects were involved in breaking into people's homes, brutally attacking victims with pangas, and then robbing them of their belongings. Upon searching their bags, officers recovered pangas, breaking implements, and two suspected stolen phones. Additionally, a motorcycle, UGD 081D, which was being ridden by the suspects at the time of their arrest, was also recovered. However, by the time of the arrest, the motorcycle’s number plate had been deliberately concealed. Our forces are intensifying efforts to apprehend other suspects involved in these violent robberies. Investigations are ongoing as the police continue their crackdown on panga-wielding thugs in the region.

Police in Mubende District, yesterday intercepted and recovered two stolen cows and arrested one suspect in connection with the crime. The operation unfolded at around 3:00 a.m. when officers on routine patrol mounted a snap checkpoint at Kisiita Village along the Butawata–Kuminamukaga Road. A white Toyota Noah, registration number UA 379AR, was flagged down, but the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Upon inspection, officers discovered a bull tied up and concealed under a tarpaulin. With the support of vigilant community members, one suspect, identified as Ayesiga Christopher, a resident of Mandela Ward in Hoima City, was apprehended while attempting to escape. During interrogation, he revealed that two vehicles had been used in the theft. One was allegedly driven by a suspect only identified as Nduna, while the driver of the Toyota Noah remains at large. Further follow-up led to the recovery of a second cow at Kabateza Village, where it had been abandoned by another vehicle that evaded interception. Both animals have since been safely transported to Mubende Police Station as investigations continue.

The Directorate of Forensic Services (DFS), in collaboration with the Directorate of Human Resource Development (HRD), has developed a comprehensive set of Forensic Induction Course Training Tools. These include a training curriculum, trainer’s guide, training manual, and a crime scene procedures manual. This initiative underscores the critical importance of standardized forensic training in safeguarding the integrity and reliability of forensic evidence presented in court. The tools were developed by a dedicated technical working group comprising forensic practitioners, Uganda Police Force (UPF) trainers, and a curriculum development consultant. The development process was supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands through the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO), a key partner in strengthening UPF capacity-building efforts. The completion of these tools marks a significant milestone in the professionalization and standardization of forensic operations within the Force. Scenes of Crime Officers serve as vital gatekeepers in the forensic process, and any shortcomings at the crime scene can compromise evidence integrity and affect the outcome of criminal prosecutions. By establishing uniform procedures and high training standards, these tools are expected to enhance the capacity of forensic practitioners, improve the quality and credibility of forensic evidence, and contribute to fair and reliable judicial outcomes. The Forensic Induction Course Training Tools will be officially launched at 9:00 AM on Thursday, 23rd April 2026, at the Police Headquarters Mega Tent in Kampala. The ceremony will be presided over by the Inspector General of Police and will mark the formal adoption and rollout of the tools across all Police Training Schools. The Inspector General of Police has invited several dignitaries and institutional partners, including the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, representatives from IDLO, the Justice, Law and Order Sector (JLOS), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), and the Judiciary of Uganda, among others. The programme will feature a panel discussion aimed at engaging stakeholders on the significance, application, and expected impact of the training tools on policing and the administration of justice in Uganda. Panelists: Hon. Justice Karoli Lwanga Ssemogerere, Judge of the High Court of Uganda Dr. Daniel Ronald Ruhweza, Senior Lecturer & Head, Department of Law and Jurisprudence, School of Law, Makerere University Mrs. Samali Wakooli, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions & Head, Department of Gender, Children and Sexual Offences, Office of the DPP Mrs. @LucyLadira, Criminal Justice Adviser, @JLOSUganda Governance and Security Programme Secretariat @mubirua1
