I wrote about my recent trip to my home country of #Lebanon for @projecthopeorg. Across all communities, 1 message was consistent: support must reach everyone, both displaced & host communities. When it doesn’t, tensions rise. & tensions are already high projecthope.org/news-stories/t…

Malaria is both preventable & curable, but it unfortunately remains one of the leading causes of death among children in sub-Saharan African countries. Transmission is most common in warmer climates where mosquitos thrive, coupled with the fact that many communities have inadequate access to preventative measures. On #WorldMalariaDay and every day, we will continue to fill the gaps in care for communities who need it most. 📷: James Buck

Israel's bombing has killed thousands, displaced more than a million and rendered health care barely accessible for Lebanon's women and children. Project HOPE CEO @rtorbay shares more of the situation on the ground after a recent visit. Thank you @HuffPost. ⬇️ bit.ly/4e6KtLF

Last week I visited a @projecthopeorg mobile medical unit in Beirut that is supporting people sheltering in an abandoned hospital. It was in a terrible shape. 22 people were living together in one of the small rooms. This is the reality for many of the displaced in #Lebanon

Sometimes distance to care is too large a hurdle. That’s why Project HOPE hosted a mobile medical unit in Jamaica, where adults & children could access free medical care, mental health support & hygiene kits as people are still recovering from the devastating impacts of Hurricane Melissa. bit.ly/4ejwTo3

The U.S. has been the backbone of the global health workforce for decades. But without a clear strategy — and with looming funding cuts — that support risks unraveling. What’s at stake goes far beyond aid. Read the full piece by Project HOPE's Jed Meline on @devex. ⬇️ devex.com/news/without-s…

While we welcome the news of a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States and hope it remains sustained, we urgently call for the ceasefire to extend to Lebanon where innocent civilians continue to endure deadly bombardment. Earlier today, Israel conducted its largest coordinated strike to date, hitting 100 targets within a 10-minute window across Beirut, southern Lebanon, Mount Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley, while causing widespread panic for people who are already reeling from exceptional trauma. Health workers experiencing mental health challenges are likely to stay silent. This #WorldHealthDay, we’re advocating for stronger support and training for front line health workers to combat stigmas in the workplace, because when health workers are overwhelmed, the entire system is compromised. Around the world, high rates of burnout are driving health workers away from their work. Read more about the burden they carry, the implications for patient care, and how we can show up for them: bit.ly/3Pqc3Jz

Supporting U.S. citizens and strengthening communities took center stage on the final day in Montego Bay. Chargé d’Affaires Renner visited Cornwall Regional Hospital to thank medical teams assisting Americans in need and hosted an American Citizens Services town hall focused on preparedness and support for U.S. citizens. He also visited a Project HOPE Mobile Medical Unit, a U.S. foreign assistance supported initiative delivering primary care, pharmaceuticals, and mental health services to communities recovering from Hurricane Melissa. These engagements reflect a continued commitment to the safety, well-being, and resilience of both U.S. citizens and Jamaican communities.
