Your art tells a story and if you want to tell that story cinematically, then you need to understand lighting and color. Tiffanie Mang's new course teaches you the essentials for how to think like a cinematographer while painting.

If you're placing an object in a scene, chances are it has a requirement for its proportion and angles. If we were saying that it didn't matter to get the form's details as intended, you can make whatever object you want! That's just doodling and does have a place, it's just not drawing a specific form in correct perspective.

@prokotv I think a trapazoid would be a lot easier since you don’t have to get the exact angle or length equal to itself.

@prokotv Technically it would be simpler to have a rectangular prism, unless it was mentioned that all sides must remain the same without me realizing.

@prokotv Yep I can definitely get behind the explanation now. I was coming more from a mathematical definition perspective (it's a part I don't usually share in my page, that's where the coordinates talk came from), but I agree with the added explanation in your reply

I looked at your account to see if you draw. I see some characters but no scenes with perspective in my browsing. This is the context and is important to the discussion. Let's say you need to draw four sets of forms in a scene with 2, 3, or 5 point perspective and those sets need to match in proportion and scale. Two tetrahedrons, two spheres, two cylinders, and two cubes. How will you place them in the scene with drawing alone and which of those will you be able to place and draw the easiest? Spheres and cylinders are regularly placed into a scene by starting with a cube and working down from that as a meaningfully more simple indicator of them as a baseline. That's the core of what's being demonstrated and that extends to other forms because of their specific requirements to be accurately drawn into a scene.
