The regulatory signal is even louder: the CFTC is actively suing states like Kentucky to defend its exclusive jurisdiction over prediction markets. They're not trying to kill the industry — they're fighting to be the ones regulating it.

Zuck just ordered Meta to build "Arena" — a standalone prediction market app. Points-based (not cash), independent of Facebook and Instagram. This is the biggest tech company entering prediction markets since... never.

On the contentious side: Clément Lesaege's validator rewards tax proposal (0%-10% of staking rewards to ecosystem funding) is splitting the community. Critics call it a tax. Supporters call it sustainable public goods funding.

Watch this case closely. Every exchange with a perp product — Coinbase, dYdX, Hyperliquid, Kalshi — has something at stake here. The jurisdictional answer will reshape US crypto derivatives for years.

$61.7 trillion in perpetual futures volume in 2025. CME wants a piece of that pie, but they can't compete with 24/7 onchain perps on a good-faith basis. So they're using the regulatory hammer instead. Classic TradFi.

CME Group is suing the CFTC over Kalshi's perpetual futures approval. The world's largest derivatives exchange is taking its OWN regulator to court. This sounds like a turf war — and it is — but the outcome determines the legal future of every perp exchange operating in the US.

The ironic upside? If MEV bots become less aggressive because they fear honeypots, retail traders might actually get better execution. The invisible tax of sandwich attacks could shrink — not because of regulation, but because the predators are now the hunted.

The real story isn't the $7.5M loss — it's what it proves. The MEV arms race has escalated past simple sandwich strategies into full-on counter-exploit engineering. Even the apex predators on Ethereum are now prey. If Jaredfromsubway can get trapped, so can any bot.

How it happened: the attacker planted 66 fake token contracts over WEEKS, tricking Jaredfromsubway into approving malicious helper contracts. Once the approvals were in place, the attacker swept WETH, USDC, and USDT in a single tx. Blockaid called it a 'counter-MEV honeypot.'

Ethereum's most notorious sandwich bot Jaredfromsubway.eth just got reverse-pickpocketed for $7.5M. The largest MEV predator on mainnet walked into a honeypot set by a smarter contract. Poetic justice, or a new phase in the MEV arms race?
