VP VANCE at the March for life: "In the ancient pagan world, discarding children was routine. From the skeletons in brothels to the child sacrifice of the Mayans, the mark of barbarism is that we treat babies like inconveniences to be discarded rather than the blessings to cherish that they are." "The March For Life... is about whether we remain a civilization under God or we return to the paganism that dominated the past. The far left in this country tells our young people that marriage and children are obstacles... We know it's a lie."

Loved visiting the amazing Pregnancy Center of Eaton County here in Michigan. It has a full baby boutique with all the essentials, incl baby food & formula + even maternity clothes! A donor church provides dressers full of baby items to give to moms. Beautiful space, very calming and bursting with love.

A few points about today's DDF doc on Marian titles. • It does *not* "demote Mary." That's stupid click bait. • Nothing in the doc (at least in my first reading) is heretical. It in fact acknowledges Mary's unique role in salvation. • It does not say either Co-Redemptrix or Mediatrix are heretical; it uses language like "not appropriate" and "needs special prudence" to use. • It's much stronger against the title "Mediatrix of All Graces," arguing that since Mary herself received graces at her conception, she could not be the mediator of those graces, and thus not of all graces. • It's far too worried about misunderstandings and confusion in relation to Protestants (a longtime Vatican obsession). However, lots of Catholic terms (like "Mother of God" and "transubstantiation") can cause confusion, but that doesn't make them inappropriate to use. • As I understand it, Catholics are still free to use these titles in their personal devotions. The DDF is just saying that the Vatican won't be defining these titles as dogma. • A future pope could reverse this decision and one day still dogmatically declare Mary as "Co-Redemptrix." Nothing in this document precludes that. • Ultimately, this document is itself imprudent, as it likely causes more confusion than it eliminates, and it's bizarre that with all the problems in the Church today, the DDF thought this was an issue of serious concern. Ridiculous. So, Catholics, don't freak out; this doc isn't a big deal. It shouldn't have been written, but it didn't upend anything either.

Important flag about the new polling showing 71% support for requiring a doctor's visit before getting abortion drugs: this is roughly the same supermajority that supports limiting athletes to playing on teams matching birth sex. (e.g. Gallup polling from '23 & '25 showing 69% support). In other words: opposition to unfettered access to abortion drugs is becoming a cultural groundswell, as happened w the women's sports issue. The American people see how dangerous these drugs are - how they are hurting and even killing women; how the lack of regulation allows boyfriends who want to end a pregnancy w/o the mom's consent to surreptitiously drug her - and they do not want this. @US_FDA @MartyMakary you have tons of support, across the political & ideological spectrum, for revisiting the REMs and protecting women.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness & snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, & do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, & all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

They just shot Charlie Kirk. A married young man and father, who stands on college campuses and encourages young people to get married, have children, stop abortion, and simply live a life for God. I’m praying that he survives. And I’m praying that this country rises up and ends this.

Since I'm mentioned in this post, I'll respond. I think two apparently disparate things are true: (1) many, many cradle Catholics are leaving the Church, and (2) an increasing number of young people are converting to Catholicism. While many reasons can be given for this somewhat strange-looking phenomenon, I think it comes down to each person's experience of Catholicism. For those who grow up Catholic, their primary experience of the Church is too often the effeminate, non-threatening, and weak Catholicism they experience at their local parish. It offers no solutions to today's problems, and so millions of cradle Catholics reject it each year by leaving the Church. For non-Catholics, however, their primary experience of the Church is often what they encounter online, which is a more robust, masculine, and traditional Catholicism. This is clearly an antidote to our society's ills, and so many are attracted to it. So no, Catholicism is not "booming", but I don't think any Catholics think it is. However, something *is* happening, and the sooner Catholics can change the experience at the local parish to something more in line with Catholicism as it's been practiced over the ages, the sooner we can get to a point where the Church is actually booming.
Allie Beth Stuckey@conservmillen

The popular narrative is that Catholicism is booming, but this is not true. According to Pew, for every 1 person joining the RCC, 8 people are leaving. This has worsened since 2014, when for every 1 person that joined, 6 people left. This study that has been cited by Catholic sources, too, who are willing to honestly face the position the Catholic Church is now in. Here’s how the Catholic editor-in-chief of Crisis Magazine puts it: “Perhaps the most stunning finding in the survey is that for every 100 people who join the Catholic Church, 840 leave. So when you rejoice seeing folks become Catholic at Easter (which you should), remember that more than 8 people have left by the back door for each one who’s come in the front. No other religion has nearly as bad of a join/leave ratio. For every 100 people that become Protestant, 180 leave. That’s bad, but it’s not Catholic bad. Conversely, for every 100 people who leave the religious “nones” (i.e., they join a religion), a full 590 become part of that irreligious cohort. Where are the former Catholics going? Of all the former Catholics, 56% become religious “nones” and 32% become Protestant. I think we all know from personal experience that these numbers ring true. What Catholic doesn’t have family members who have become Protestant or have stopped practicing any religion? It’s just part of being an American Catholic these days.” Catholic apologist Trent Horn published an insightful video 4 months ago about this undeniable trend. “Protestantism is winning,” he says. Of course, he doesn’t mean that he believes we have the correct views, but, he points out: “Of the major religious groups in America, Protestantism is seeing the least decline.” This is a global reality: For example, there has been a major religious shift toward Protestantism in South America over the past 3 decades. A continent that was almost entirely Catholic is now 20% Protestant. More than 1/3 of South American Protestants were raised Catholic before making the switch. The reasons for conversion cited were: “seeking a personal connection with God,” wanted a “church that helps members now,” “wanted greater emphasis on morality,” among others. There are many Catholics who have analyzed this unarguable shift, noting that the embrace of Marxism & liberation theology by much of the RCC in 19th & 20th century led to a weakened church. That’s a good lesson for us all, btw. But it’s also because evangelicals are—well— evangelical. According to Pew, in every South American country, self-identifying Prots are far more likely to share their faith than Catholics. For example, in Peru, 38% of Protestants say they share their faith at least once a week compared to just 7% of Catholics. I would think Catholics would want to face this reality, and I believe many do. But it’s hard to understand the need to highlight a trend that doesn’t actually exist. I am sure this post will elicit no angry or unreasonable replies! ;) I’ll post some screenshots of sources below.
