While the world focuses on the destruction in Iran, we must not ignore what Israel is doing in Lebanon. 1,461 have been killed. 4,430 have been injured. 1.2 million have been displaced. Israel now occupies 14% of Lebanon. Enough is enough. No more US military aid to Israel.

Hold on…who the hell are you to speak on football? Representation in football isn’t about “politics” old lady, it’s about reality. Half of Premier League players are Black. Very few are in coaching or leadership roles, that’s not coincidence, it’s a systemic gap. Players spend years being shaped not just technically, but personally, by coaches. Those coaches influence how they see themselves, how they handle pressure, how they navigate racism, and how safe they feel in vulnerable conditions. In my day, we had a “dark side” in the changing rooms. A place for black players to congregate. That was our safe space. With a black coach/manager, I doubt that would’ve existed. So yes, it matters if young Black players go through entire systems without seeing people who look like them in positions of authority. Representation helps: 1. Trust & Safety We’ve seen repeated racism directed at players like Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, and Raheem Sterling. If players are experiencing that level of abuse, how can they feel fully understood or protected if leadership doesn’t reflect their experiences? 2. Role Modelling off the Pitch Football isn’t just about tactics, it’s about life. Young players need mentors who understand their cultural context, their challenges, and the realities they face outside the game. That’s harder when every authority figure comes from a completely different background. Players become misunderstood. 3. Breaking Invisible Barriers If players only ever see one “type” of coach or leader, it quietly tells them: this isn’t for you. Representation changes what people believe is possible. No one is excluding anyone. The aim is to open doors that have historically been closed. Football is supposed to be for everyone. Not just on the pitch but in the rooms where decisions are made, that’s how we evolve the game old lady! What a cheek!

The @FA Football Association wants to mandate that 1 in 4 football coaches come from a Black, Asian or other minority background. As the saying in football goes, this is utter woke nonsense. The game’s gone. Fans don’t care what the coach looks like. They just want the best person for the job, based on merit alone. That’s what gets results. Not tokenism. I’ve written to the FA urging a rethink. I’m happy to help them draw up a fairer policy. Let’s kick racism out of football, including anti-white racism.
