This is a perfect comparison because we don't actually have to speculate. Conservatives go out of their way to specifically avoid saving liberals from fires. And floods. And hurricanes.

There's a famous conservative tweet that goes something like "When I say liberals are bad, I mean I think you're dumb but would save you from a fire. When liberals say conservatives are bad they mean they should all die."

If you just took a computer algorithm and made the country's maps compact, ignoring all else, you arguably end up in a healthier democracy than we have right now.

@aziz0nomics Not necessarily; the owners of those data centers will prosper. Often the owners only build in a given country due to things like cheap electricity, cheap connectivity, cheap location and cheap labour during construction. And the locals do not benefit at all.

Gavin Newsom just gave a TWO-HOUR presentation, took 41 questions RAPID FIRE, and laid out a detailed budget plan for a $0 deficit THIS YEAR, a $0 deficit NEXT YEAR, and cutting California’s long-term structural deficit by 50% the year after that.  No notes at the podium. Every number memorized. Nobody can do what he does right now. Certainly not DONALD TRUMP!!!!!

The topic of AI data centers is interesting. I have generally avoided it because (a) it’s not a topic I have spent a lot of time looking into, and (b) it starts ridiculously heated arguments that I don’t feel like engaging in. From a layman’s POV, I think that there is a lot of hysteria about them that is completely unwarranted. While AI could wipe out a lot of jobs, it will likely create a more just as technological innovation always has. That’s progress. And, as for the water being used to cool them down, well, it’s recycled. Water doesn’t just vanish. Conservation of energy; it’s just physics. That being said, there are legitimate concerns about AI, particularly with respect to data centers. Wherever they are being built, locals overwhelmingly oppose them regardless of their political ideology or party affiliation. These data centers are huge, ugly, and take up vast amounts of land that could otherwise be used for agriculture or preserved for wildlife. In some places like Georgia, the threat of eminent domain is being used. That is a direct violation of property rights. Also, I am a land conservationist. Caring for the environment used to be a conservative cause. “Conserve” is in the very name. The big justification for this AI race is that we need to compete with China. But for what exactly? What is the ultimate goal? What is the net benefit of getting into a pissing contest on AI? What exactly are these AI data centers being used for? Surveillance? Improving medical treatments? Gathering data for some project or research? I am not an apocalyptic fear mongerer, but these are legitimate questions that need answering without the aggressive tech bro incels getting defensive.

Redistricting should be outlawed at the federal level, and the national aim should be fair apportionment across the country. Voters of both parties should have fair representation in blue and red states. Win on the merits of your arguments. This race to the bottom may net temporary gains—but the long-term implications are bad. We’re teaching younger generations of Americans that if they don’t get their way, through coercion they can prevail. Instead of raising the next generation of strong and capable Americans, we’ll end up with a generation of complainers who feel entitled when things don’t go their way. It’s the “you get a prize” syndrome even when you’re undeserving.

This is crazy. The Trump administration is forcing five aging coal plants to stay open under “emergency” orders, and the math does not work for anybody. Grid operators did not ask for this. The utilities did not ask for this. The states did not ask for this. Years of careful planning to replace these plants with cheaper, cleaner power are being thrown out. This is not about coal versus renewables. It is about whether the Trump administration should be allowed to force you to pay for power plants that nobody needs, nobody asked for, and in some cases are not even generating electricity. Meanwhile, Americans all across the country are watching their utility bills climb. It is completely ridiculous. nytimes.com/2026/05/14/cli…

Guy at a Sunoco in Ohio pulls up and shows what he claims is a scam at the pump A nail or screw jammed in the nozzle holder so the auto shut-off supposedly doesn’t work. You start pumping, walk away, and it just keeps going. Your tank overflows while your money keeps rolling and the station wins He says he showed management and they wouldn’t come out Is this really an intentional scam or just how the pump works? What do you think?

nancy if trump is guilty as you claim, i want to know. sincerely problem is, there's never been any credible evidence which suggests that's the case yet you guys just keep hammering on it it makes you look crazy.. hence the existence of the term 'tds' present the evidence you have. photos of trump with epstein are irrelevant unless the context indicates otherwise. the billionaire club is small and everyone knows and socializes with each other. i'm sure oprah knew epstein, too besides that, what do you have? that's all i've seen. he supposedly made some comment at a miss america pageant or something - also not evidence, in case you were going to claim that what do you have? seriously. all i've seen are conspiracy theories

The biggest outrage in yesterday’s SCOTUS decision from Alabama is that it impacts a primary election that’s just a week away. This is the Court that has repeatedly declined to protect minority voters’ rights when it’s “too close” to an election.
