Deion Sanders said, "That's what's wrong with most of our athletes today: We don't practice to be great. We don't practice to be dominant. We practice to practice." "I practiced to be the best ever." How you practice is how you will perform.

The 8 Realities of a HS Coach 1. It will consume you 2. There will be critics 3. You are not in it for the $ 4. There is no overnight success 5. You need a supportive spouse 6. You will not make everyone happy 7. You can’t want it more than the kids 8. It is still WORTH it!

Please be careful with weighted balls. Parents, long toss has always been good. As Dr Keith Meister (google him) told me, when the engine gets too big for the chassis, things tend to break. Please take care.
Jeff Passan@JeffPassan

This was the most interesting to me. MLB says pitch velocity is the greatest driver of injury. And yet teams, at the college and pro levels, continue to prioritize velocity. Not only do kids emulate what they see, they train specifically for it. This is baseball's brokenness.

Wyatt Langford at contact 🔥 Great example to show hitters - "Get behind the ball" - "Square up behind the ball" - "Strong at contact like you're hitting a tire"

The velocity era is a tired act. Watching dudes with below command trying to throw as hard as they can every pitch is vomit worthy. It's time for the pitchability, moxie and feel era to resurface. Command it Then learn to throw it harder, not the other way around.

ATHLETES: You get one shot at high school. Play with no regrets: 1. Give 100% effort every day. 2. Be a great teammate. 3. Learn from every mistake. 4. Play with passion, not pressure. 5. Enjoy every moment. Don’t just play the game. LOVE the game!

The velocity progression is supposed to be gradual. Example 9th-79-81 10th-82-84 11th-85-87 12th-89-90 Then keep adding in college. Gradual progression reduces injury risk. The best of the best college coaches and pro scouts can project velocity based upon body, arm action, arm speed, delivery, athleticism and makeup. They're not all dumb dumbs. Consumed by the now velocity of the radar gun.

News: MLB just released a study on pitching injuries. The conclusions are no surprise: Chasing velocity and "stuff" at all levels of baseball are impacting arms in a negative way. More specifics in here, including when they're seeing the most injuries: espn.com/mlb/story/_/id…
