When @rasjbaraka was arrested by ICE in May, he showed the nation that Mayors can lead the way in fighting Trump’s authoritarianism. I was proud to stand in solidarity with Newark residents that evening until he was released—and proud to have his endorsement in this race.

This isn’t the end. New Jersey is about to experience a new day. Everyday people are getting on board with the idea that a fairer, more equitable New Jersey is possible and it’s what we deserve. All workers have a constitutional right to safety. Casino workers are no different than restaurant servers, bartenders, or casino managers for that matter. We need to ban smoking in casinos because no one in New Jersey should have to be poisoned for a paycheck, and I would absolutely sign that legislation into law.
