8 years stolen. While the SC finally voided Carandang’s dismissal, I’m angrier than thankful. Reparation is welcome, but it can’t replace a decade of mental anguish caused by deliberate lies. Vindicated, yet justice requires accountability for those who pulled off this sham.

Pilipino muna. Bandila ng Pilipinas ang iisa nating kulay.

If we can spend ₱33 billion on a Senate building (and yet to be completed) it begs the question whether a public hospital would serve more Filipinos. More beds, faster emergency care, better diagnostics, and lives saved matter more than comfort for lawmakers. Public funds must answer the biggest public need first ….. not political vanity.

PGMN has always admitted from the very beginning that they have DDS, Dilawan, BBM and probably also a touch of Pink in their anchors. That way you get a mix of all sides which in turn helps you make more informed decisions. I personally am not endorsing anyone. I’m looking towards having more competent people in govt.

@realedumanzano 1st statement is already wrong. The Phils and the Czech republic do not have an active extradition treaty. While extradition is not treaty bound, Phil authorities can, via immigration laws & deportation issues, coordinate with the Czech officials to request the return of Mr. Co

TANONG: Can the Philippines request extradition for Zaldy Co after report he has been arrested in Prague, Czech Republic? SAGOT: Yes, the Philippines can request the Czech Republic to extradite a Filipino apprehended in Prague—but whether it succeeds depends on a few key factors. 1. Is there an extradition treaty? Yes. The Philippines and the Czech Republic have an extradition treaty in force. That’s the legal basis for any request. 2. Dual criminality The alleged crime must be punishable in both countries. Example: fraud, murder, large-scale corruption—generally yes. Political offenses or minor infractions—usually no. 3. Evidence threshold The Philippines must submit sufficient evidence showing: • A crime was committed • The person is likely responsible Hindi puwedeng hinala lang. Courts in the Czech Republic will review this. 4. Nationality does NOT block extradition Even if the person is Filipino, puwede pa ring i-extradite. Citizenship alone is not a shield. 5. Human rights considerations The Czech courts may deny extradition if: • There’s risk of torture or unfair trial • The person may face the death penalty (since the Czech Republic is strongly opposed to it) 6. Judicial process in Czech Republic This is crucial: • The decision is not automatic or purely political • Czech courts evaluate the request • The person can contest the extradition 7. Specialty rule If extradited, the person can only be tried for the specific offense stated in the request—not for other unrelated charges. ——————- TANONG: Sa palagay ninyo, gaano katagal aabutin?

@realedumanzano If Edu Manzano: - plans to run as senator in 2028 (he can & should) - will align with Aiko Melendez’s choice (his detractors are anticipating) He better start vetting his showbiz friends & powerful allies. He also needs to differentiate himself from Recto - it will be asked.

AT and the Politics of Power By Jason M. Ralph Recto built his political identity around taxes – most notably the Expanded VAT law, which raised the rate from 10% to 12% and expanded it to cover fuel and electricity. That move boosted government revenues, but it also buried his Senate reelection bid in 2007, a backlash many linked to the unpopular tax. Fast forward to today, and the script hasn’t changed. With inflation biting and fuel prices climbing, lawmakers are pushing to cut VAT back to 10%. It’s not radical. It’s a rollback. A correction. A small break for a public that has been paying more for nearly everything – and the same public from whom nearly a trillion pesos, if not more, has been taken. And once again, Recto says no. His argument? The government will lose revenue. Debt might rise. The numbers won’t work. But why is it always the public that has to adjust – never the system? VAT is the easiest tax to collect. It doesn’t chase billionaires. It doesn’t audit corporations. It taxes consumption, meaning it taxes everyone, especially the poor. The more you spend just to survive, the more you pay. And Recto knows this. He helped design it. This is what makes the current standoff more than just policy – it’s personal. The same architect of the 12% VAT is now the gatekeeper blocking its reduction. So when Congress hesitates to even vote on lowering VAT, the issue is no longer economics. It’s power. Because if lawmakers truly believed in independence, they would put it to a vote and let the public see where they stand. Instead, we get silence. Delay. Deference. Recto warns of lost revenue. But what about lost trust?
