I have tried this a bunch of ways in the last two years, but it always resulted in way less CAGR. Drawdowns are the price you have to pay for higher CAGR.

Does equity curve trading actually make your strategy better? Is it just overfitting with extra steps, or something real that professional funds use every day? I had all these questions…. So I ran 25 years of backtest data. Todays article is what I found.

YTD:14% Not sure how/what happened this month, but as a systematic trader it does not matter to me. NDX is in a momentum phase and is in the best regime for my strategy. Make hay while the sun shines.

Someone asked me about my live trading system stats yesterday. If you go to the statistics tab, you will see all the stats you want and these are updated daily by C2. collective2.com/details/141158…

YTD:8%. It’s the same old story. Market beats you up badly and if you are still there, will give you a reward. Now that the beating has been done in the last 6 months, it’s time for the reward. Key is to be there for that reward and most people bail before that beating is done.

YTD:-9.75% vs NDX:-8.5%. Most systems are in cash right now and the short system is keeping the portfolio afloat. Getting excited about the next leg up when it happens.

Having tried both discretionary and systematic, I can say that they both are super difficult. These are two different approaches to the market and one is not better than the other. It all depends on individual skill and preference. Both approaches have pros and cons.
Dan@Dan_Trend

Fun discussion on systematic vs discretionary. Systematic is what I love, as it enables me to step back and do other things (including R&D on more systematic 😅). Discretionary can be incredibly tiring over time, but some people love it and can do better with it.

YTD: -12% Not a great quarter so far. But after a huge run up like last year, systems are expected to give back some and this drawdown is within the expected range.

YTD: -1% . Models are adjusting to the chop pretty well so far. Key is to survive the chop with less drawdown until the market becomes favorable again.

YTD is -4% and 1 YR is 41%. Have a feeling NDX is entering a tough period after a relatively smooth ride in the last 9 months.

My only goal for 2025 was to follow my system and survive. I am happy to report: Mission Accomplished. The market was kind and I ended the year with a 51% return.🎉🚀 It’s honestly mind boggling to hit $1M in total lifetime profits this year. The plan for 2026? More of the same. No ego, just execution. YTD numbers reset and I am going to start with a blank slate. Hope you all had a killer 2025. let’s get after it in 2026

YTD 52%. My portfolio has been slightly choppy and moving sideways for the past three months along with the market. I have a feeling a bigger move is coming, just don’t know if it is to the upside or downside. Overall very happy with the systems. 🥂

YTD almost 48% and looking to wrap up a great year. It did not look great in March, but as usual perseverance and trust in the system kept it going. Insane run since April. I am hoping the run continues.

💯💯This is the best advice ever. Majority of the folks should just index and call it a day. That is why @Kinfo leaderboard has only a handful of folks making meaningful money from the markets through trading.
peepeepoopoo@DeepDishEnjoyer

this is actual financial advice i am giving. it's not just to xet. it's to all of you do not trade. you do not have edge. you are misreading stochastic noise and using your pattern-matching brain to assign stories to it. do not trade. most retail traders underperform index funds

I used to be a discretionary trader and stop loss was the go to for risk management. After I turned to systematic trading, I found that stop losses reduce my profitability. Now I just use exits. At the end of each day, exit conditions are calculated by the models and they figure out if a position needs to be closed. Overall stop losses are great for discretionary traders, exits work better for systematic traders
Elite Swing Traders@1ChartMaster

Trading without a stop-loss is like driving a car without brakes. Maybe you could make it around the block a few times, but if you did drive without brakes, how far do you think you could go before you crash?

It’s a trade off. If you did a buy and hold of TQQQ for the last 52 weeks, you are up by 8% and don’t owe taxes yet. Instead, I made more than 50% and don’t mind paying taxes on it. Even after taxes, I made more money than 8%. You have to do what’s best for you. My tax rate is low as I don’t have state taxes.
Getaway Singh@GetawaySingh

@RealTQQQTrader Yes but you are paying taxes in the taxable version

Not sure how the NASDAQ’s decision of extending trading to 23 hrs a day is going to impact my systematic trading yet. Have to wait and see how that goes.
