🚨 STOP SCROLLING if you’ve got ANY investments down right now… this is your sign 💰📉 Tax loss harvesting isn’t just an “end-of-tax-year thing”, you NEED to look at it RIGHT NOW in Feb 2026 🔥 Here’s exactly why + the KEY elements every UK investor should know: ✅ Sell losers to offset capital gains pound-for-pound (realised losses wipe out gains in the same year) ✅ Any excess losses carry forward INDEFINITELY to slash future CGT bills ✅ Use your £3,000 Annual Exempt Amount (AEA) wisely, it’s use-it-or-lose-it each tax year ⚠️ No strict “wash sale” rule like the US, but be careful with “bed and breakfasting” wait 30 days before repurchasing the exact same shares to avoid HMRC anti-avoidance rules Why NOW? Markets are volatile (tariff talks, global dips 👀), so locking in losses early lets you rebalance, stay invested, maximise your £3,000 AEA, and stack tax savings ALL YEAR instead of rushing before 5 April. Smart investors do this year-round… why wait? Any questions let me know 👇 Save this before HMRC takes another bite 😤 #TaxLossHarvesting #CGTHacks #InvestingUK #MoneyMoves #Finance #UKInvesting #TaxTips2026 #WealthBuilding

Sorry, we missed this one, Jamie and Freddie. CARF sucks for privacy - this is not tradfi, people are not being extorted out of the Apple shares, bearer instruments need to be handled with the utmost security! At the moment, beyond the general UK GDPR requirement for “appropriate technical and organisational measures”, we are not aware of anything that would compel consistent, modern controls across the ecosystem, particularly where third-party CARF processors are used. With HMRC, we can ask them what their controls are, but the data collectors, aggregators, and even other tax authorities remitting information are currently under no obligation to do anything. We don't like honey pots, and it feels like CARF is going to create lots of them!

🧵 New HMRC Crypto Self Assessment Form: A Capital Gains Trap? Some quick thoughts on the recent changes and how they might trip up the average filer (even those trying to be compliant)… 👇 For the 2024/25 tax year, HMRC has introduced a dedicated section for cryptoassets on the self-assessment return – a long-awaited update. ✅ Good in theory. ⚠️ But here's where it gets messy… Capital Gains Tax rates changed on 30th Oct 2024. This means gains before and after this date are taxed at different rates. A classic case for a split-year CGT calculation. Fair enough, right? But HMRC has not created two separate boxes to enter pre- and post-30 Oct gains. Instead, they’ve given us a single adjustment box to calculate & declare the difference in tax due manually. This means: – Crypto filers must calculate CGT twice – Work out the difference in tax due – Enter it in a free text adjustment box Easy to get wrong. And zero automation or guardrails. Self-filers without help could: – Miss the adjustment – Use the wrong rate – Underpay unknowingly ...or overpay trying to "play it safe". The new crypto section is progress, but the lack of clarity on the CGT rate change feels like a trap for those who aren’t already tax-savvy. Will it bring in more revenue? I doubt it. But it will bring confusion, errors, and more stress for those just trying to do the right thing. If you’re filing crypto taxes this year, especially with trades across Oct 30th – get help or double check your CGT rates. One number in the wrong box and it’s easy to either overpay or attract unwanted attention. DMs open if you want to chat more. 🧾📊 #CryptoTax #SelfAssessment #HMRC #Bitcoin #CGT
