Now that I think about it, the series kinda ran into the same problems as many bad/modern Spider-Man stories do where they just have suffering with no real pay-off and it’s all meaningless in the end. Because you can tell it’s the writer forcing something and isn’t fun at all.

Kirkman doesn't understand that making the hero suffer repeatedly for the sake of suffering isn't good writing. At a certain point, it stops feeling like "life is hard & complicated" & starts feeling like the writer won’t allow happiness. Artificial suffering isn’t depth.

@JammingwithP @author_pandp Yes and it starts to fall and wobble in the latter half because Kirkman’s writing starts to turn to shit. Don’t try to say shit when “Blue Reboot” exists and is just a terrible excuse to make Mark suffer for no fucking reason.

@Le_Unorthodox Cecil is presented as being smarter in the show than he is in the comics. In the comics, this mistake is in character for him. In the show it makes no sense

Everyone is clowning on Cecil (rightfully) for leaving conquest alive, and honestly I choose to believe that while he did take precautions like the noise frequency thing he used on Mark, Conquest just powered through it lol. Still dumb they didn’t show that though

I really do like alot of the expansion that Kirkman has given to Viltrum in the show, in showing that it's a fundamentally pitiful and doomed society only held together by the raw force of larger-than-life figures (Argall and Thragg) and lack of alternatives

@Kevin_Tapia__ yeah. That's the core of my issues. It's not that I don't understand the point here but throughout the show (I haven't read the comics). Cecil had other plans if things go south, but here he did the bare minimum and thought it would work

Cecil littarly created a high-frequency earbud in Mark's head. Why didn't he do that here.
Would it be so hard to remove movements from Conquest Body by snapping a few nerve cords that they can repair from scratch.

@punishednuz This is the setup they used to contain Nolan when Mark went back in time with his knowledge of the future. If this was made for him and he can't break out of it, it's reasonable for Cecil to assume Conquest couldn't break out of something that's even bigger/better.

@punishednuz Yeah the 2nd conquest arc is really annoying. There’s zero stakes in bringing him back since Mark already “killed” him. And Cecil puts like zero precautions into stopping Conquest. He doesn’t even give a good reason for why they kept him alive.
