His name was Dr. Mohamed Kamal Ismail (1908-2008), a renowned Egyptian architect and engineer.
During the reign of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi government entrusted him with the massive task of designing and supervising the major expansion and modernization of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah.
Dr. Ismail worked for years on these sacred projects. When the work was completed, the Saudi government and the Bin Laden Company offered him a huge amount of money-millions of dollars - as compensation. They even gave him a blank cheque and told him to write any amount he wanted.
