Somaliland: President Abdirahman Irro Launches National Peace and Reconciliation Initiative in Sanaag
His Excellency, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, announces the launch of a comprehensive peace and reconciliation initiative in the city of Erigavo. This momentous undertaking seeks to heal wounds, bridge divides, and fortify the bonds of brotherhood among the diverse communities of the Sanaag Region.
In accordance with the sacred duty entrusted to him by the National Constitution to uphold the unity, security, and dignity of the Republic, President Abdirahman Irro reaffirms the Government’s unwavering commitment to addressing longstanding grievances through the peaceful means of dialogue, justice, and inclusive national consensus.
Recognizing that peace is not the mere absence of conflict, but the active cultivation of mutual respect, shared responsibility, and enduring trust, the President calls upon every citizen—elders, religious leaders, women, youth, and civil society alike—to embrace this initiative with sincerity and resolve.
The path to reconciliation is founded upon four indispensable principles:

✴️ The peoples of Sanaag bear a collective obligation to protect their unity and advance a culture of inclusive dialogue and respect.
✴️ The Government pledges its full support and dedicates all necessary resources to facilitate reconciliation, ensuring grievances are addressed with justice and fairness.
✴️ Traditional dispute resolution mechanisms and community-driven approaches shall guide the process, honoring Somaliland’s heritage of mediation and collective wisdom.
