Yes, cause ppl always want bw, especially older ones, to be a mammified safe space. They never had a mean great aunt who let her titties hang out at the family reunion. Her childhood was shaped by the Great Depression, why would she care for a generation who’s only known nectar.

And I love that cause I don’t have to feel weird about often asking her for guidance as a yoruba would an orisha, since she on everyone mind anyway.

@rossisongo the last part u said makes me think of her essay “rootedness: the ancestors as a foundation” you can tell she knew exactly what her work not only meant but what it will mean and how it will allow her to live long beyond her human body

My theory is that when she created, or revealed, black american mt olympus in Sula she returned to herself her place there after her human period. Ubiquitous ancestors were always going to be an ancestor, before they were even born.

@rossisongo you not wrong at all bc the way I’m planning to make Toni Morrison’s carrot cake recipe and read her work is very much so devotion lmaooo

My first ever favorite Beyoncé song when I was 10. Crazy in Love didn’t make the cut cause I didn’t care for gogo particularly & I still kinda don’t. I gotta be in a gogo mood & I’d rather listen to 1 Thing. open.spotify.com/track/3V5I90js…

@MediumSizeMeech yea i dont know well but you center celebrity culture and nonblack people way too much to think you have any depth when it comes to Black writers and Black scholarship. also if i was just trolling you wouldve ignored my comment but i hit a nerve

This might be a bit parasocial but are famous people not gods in waiting? They’re the most likely to be remembered forever & memorialized as deities. At the very least in practice regardless of how people term it. What I mean by this is it feels as though Toni never died.
