Today, the Rwanda Space Agency signed an MoU with the Institute of Air and Space Law at @mcgillu to strengthen capacity building and facilitate knowledge exchange in space law, policy, and governance. This partnership will support the development of robust space regulations, creating an enabling environment for the private sector in space.

Rwanda's Teleport achieves Tier 3 Certification from the @worldteleport (WTA), becoming the second fully certified teleport in Africa and the first space agency-operated teleport globally to get WTA certification. A milestone for Rwanda's space sector and a recognition of the country's growing capabilities in satellite communications infrastructure.

La Semaine spatiale du Sénégal (Senegal Space Week 2026) s’est achevée aujourd’hui sur une avancée majeure dans le renforcement de la coopération bilatérale entre le Sénégal et le Rwanda, marquée par la signature d’un protocole d’accord entre l’Agence spatiale rwandaise (Rwanda Space Agency) et l’Agence sénégalaise d’études spatiales (ASES). Cet accord de partenariat porte notamment sur le développement des infrastructures spatiales, l’échange de connaissances géospatiales, la mise en œuvre de projets conjoints de recherche, ainsi que la collaboration dans les domaines des sciences et technologies spatiales. Le protocole d’accord a été signé par M. Gaspard Twagirayezu, Directeur général de la Rwanda Space Agency, et M. Maram Kairé, Directeur général de l’ASES, en présence de S.E. Festus Bizimana, Ambassadeur de la République du Rwanda au Sénégal. En marge de cet événement, une visite de courtoisie a également été effectuée auprès du Ministre des Armées du Sénégal, le Général Birame Diop, en compagnie de S.E. l’Ambassadeur Festus Bizimana. Les échanges ont porté sur l’importance croissante des investissements dans le secteur spatial au service de la sécurité publique, notamment dans les domaines de la prévention et de la gestion des catastrophes, ainsi que du suivi climatique et de l’observation environnementale. Cette dynamique illustre la volonté commune du Rwanda et du Sénégal de faire du spatial un levier stratégique d’innovation, de résilience et de développement durable au service de leurs populations. —— Senegal Space Week 2026 concluded today with a major step forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Senegal and Rwanda, marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Rwanda Space Agency and the Senegalese Space Studies Agency (ASES). This partnership agreement focuses in particular on the development of space infrastructure, the exchange of geospatial knowledge, the implementation of joint research projects, and collaboration in the fields of space science and technology. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Mr. Gaspard Twagirayezu, Director General of the Rwanda Space Agency, and Mr. Maram Kairé, Director General of ASES, in the presence of H.E. Festus Bizimana, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to Senegal. On the sidelines of this event, a courtesy visit was also paid to the Minister of the Armed Forces of Senegal, General Birame Diop, accompanied by H.E. Ambassador Festus Bizimana. Discussions focused on the growing importance of investments in the space sector for public safety, particularly in the areas of disaster prevention and management, as well as climate monitoring and environmental observation. This momentum illustrates the shared commitment of Rwanda and Senegal to making space a strategic driver of innovation, resilience, and sustainable development for the benefit of their populations.
