@rupertaesthete @Kiefer_Wool I do have taste but I have no hatred of tradition. If there is any hatred here, it is amongst those who clearly have a distaste for modernism. There was never any dichotomy between the two styles and both can be appreciated on their merits.
English

@Kiefer_Wool @sejhudson Actually these people are the ones with taste, in the sense they intellectually think about it and judge good/bad. It's just their visceral political liberalism and hatred of tradition that guides their judgement, aswell as being intelligent enough to rationalise it aesthetically

These are perfectly nice and far superior to the Deano Box slop that usually blights the British suburbs.

The new build estates on the outskirts of Cambridge are truly shocking. Is it any wonder that people there hate the thought of expanding the city when this is what they can expect will be built?
English

@Kaleidicworld Neo-brutalism and adjacent styles will age much better than the attempts of the 60s and 70s simply by virtue of them just using different materials. Bricks, of really any sort, weather better than exposed concrete.
English

@sejhudson They look like a slightly updated version of what was constructed in Skelmersdale and other 'new towns' in the mid 60s - most of which were not exactly success stories.
English

@AngrySeagull2 I don't think people (mostly the upwardly mobile lower-middle class, rather than working class) are especially enthusiastic about the Deano Box's aesthetics.
English

@sejhudson No one really wants to live there.
There’s a reason “Deano Box Slop” houses are popular.
English

@sejhudson You’re just another Cambridge educated, posh twat, sneering at the working class.

Can't do good writing anymore because idiots online, either through stupid or bad faith, fail to interpret irony.
