This week the adult industry got rearranged.
A new majority owner of OnlyFans. A federal lawsuit against creators for sharing their own content. An investigation on how AI is exploiting creators without consent. And AV crackdowns on multiple continents. Here is what you missed.👇
1) OnlyFans is officially woman-owned at a $3.15B valuation.
Architect Capital bought a 16% stake for $535M. UK filings confirm Katie Chudnovsky, widow of late founder Leo Radvinsky, now controls 75% of parent company Fenix International. The new capital is going toward creator-focused financial services to address debanking and payment processor pressure. If those tools materialize, this changes how a lot of you bank, borrow and get paid.
2) A management company is suing OnlyFans creators in federal court over content they produced themselves.
Nova Productions filed in Delaware against multiple creators, alleging copyright infringement for distributing material that had been posted on OnlyFans. The case will test who actually owns the content you make under an agency contract. Read every clause you sign. Get representation that knows the creator economy. Cases like this set precedent for years.
3) MIT Technology Review just dropped a deep investigation into how AI is exploiting adult creators.
Our bodies are being scraped as training data. Our likenesses get cloned for scams. One scammer used an AI deepfake of a creator to steal $20,000 from a fan, then the fan blamed her. And the Take It Down Act, which was supposed to protect people, could be weaponized to mass-flag and scrub legitimate adult content from the internet.
4) Missouri just locked age verification into state law with a unanimous Senate vote.
The bill covers any website where 33% or more of content is deemed harmful to minors, which sweeps in adult platforms plus Reddit and X. Missouri already had AV through regulatory action. Lawmakers are codifying it so a future administration cannot undo it. The governor is expected to sign.
5) Florida just collected $1.2 million from the parent company of XVideos and XNXX.
WebGroup Czech Republic settled the Florida AG's lawsuit after ignoring formal compliance letters. They also have to use third-party verification vendor AgeGo going forward. This is the first major US settlement tied to a state age verification law. It will not be the last.
This was a busy news week. There were actually nine stories I consider to be big news for sex workers. I wrote my whole breakdown of all nine news stories in ceosociety.app. Head over there to see all the news. I pinned it to the top so you can't miss it!
I'm curious...which of these feels like the one nobody in your circle is talking about but probably should be?
