A startling admission is buried in the @nytimes today: Israeli officials admit they are fine with "mass civilian casualties" in Gaza. The Israeli officials also cite the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan to justify the scale of expected civilian death in Gaza.
Unconscionable.⬇️
Today, I am thinking of human beings in Gaza buried under the rubble.
I am thinking of their joys, dreams, hopes & fears.
I wonder, if the dust ever settles, whether opponents of a ceasefire will look back and reflect on the cost of their inhumanity.
We need a ceasefire, now.
Here’s @jeremycorbyn speaking to @novaramedia yesterday.
His level of familiarity & understanding on these issues is unmatched by any other U.K. politician.
And on Sinai, I think he’s right. End game is as many Gazans in Egypt as possible. Egypt will then send to Europe.
Today, I'm thinking of all those in Israel and Palestine suffering unimaginable pain, trauma and fear.
The horrific attacks on civilians in Israel were deplorable. This cannot justify the indiscriminate killing of Palestinians, who are paying the price for a crime they did not commit.
Half of Gaza’s population are children. Trapped in an open-air prison without food, water, gas or electricity, they are watching their homes turn to rubble with nowhere to go.
We should condemn the use of violence against all civilians, Israeli and Palestinian. And we must renew our calls for an immediate ceasefire to prevent any further loss of life.
In times of war, we need more voices for peace — and the only way to achieve peace is to end the occupation.
Biden’s speech today focused entirely on the atrocities in Israel and ignored the far greater atrocities surging by the hour in Gaza. It is as if the endless slaughter of Palestinians under occupation over the years by U.S. made weaponry and political backing didn’t exist. -R
Using terms like “extermination”, “annihilation” and “human animals”—and cutting off water, food, electricity and fuel—the Israeli government's genocidal bombing attack on Gaza’s defenseless civilian population is underway. Once again.
VACCINES!
Will they be mandatory?
