Emily Dawe is ready to make a difference! ❤️A graduate of the Tocoi Creek Healthcare Academy, Emily plans to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and later earn her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) to become a nurse practitioner. She hopes to work in high-level care settings such as an intensive cardiac care unit or emergency department while expanding her research capabilities. While graduation feels both exciting and intimidating, Emily is looking ahead with confidence and gratitude for the support of her mom, brother, and the educators who helped shape her journey. Emily shared that Ms. Nemecek, Ms. Caldwell, and Dr. Turnbull inspired her to advocate for others in healthcare and prepared her well for her future as a clinician. We are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and cannot wait to see the impact she makes in the years ahead! 🎓

St. Johns Virtual School offers K-12 students a flexible online learning experience designed to support academic success and individual learning needs. 💻AP courses begin as early as June 1, giving students opportunities to engage in rigorous coursework while learning from supportive teachers. Yesterday, Superintendent Dr. Brennan Asplen met with the SJCSD Focus Group at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office ECTC Auditorium. This group brings together key communicators from across the community, along with representatives from our schools’ School Advisory Councils (SAC) and Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTO), to foster meaningful two-way communication and collaboration. During the meeting, district leaders shared important updates and presentations, including a discussion on bullying prevention led by Chief of Staff Paul Abbatinozzi and Student Services representative Darrell Sutherland. St. Johns Virtual School is a full-time K-12 public school in St. Johns County, and enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester is open through July 10! 🗓️ Current full-time SJVS students do not need to reapply unless otherwise notified by the school. Families new to the district should upload transcripts and test scores from their previous school during the application process. The St. Johns County School Board was proud to recognize outstanding student achievements and staff accolades during its regular board meeting! Congratulations to our talented high school All-County Art Exhibit winners and to Tocoi Creek High School student Sahiti Reddy, who was recognized as a Ronald Reagan Presidential Debate Finalist at the recent Florida Civics and Debate Initiative State Championship. Sahiti also earned an impressive $15,000 scholarship! Congratulations as well to all of our FCDI categorical winners for their incredible accomplishments. The School Board was also honored to recognize Trout Creek Academy nurse MaryAnn Salmons with the Superintendent’s Award for Heroic Action. Ms. Salmons’ quick response and decisive actions helped save a choking student, demonstrating extraordinary care, courage, and professionalism. Congratulations to all for representing the SJCSD with excellence!
