Earlier I put out a piece about Tir Natur's 'rewilding' project in the Elenydd. bit.ly/4amoeip I've been sent an exchange between two of Tir Natur's supporters. "These guys" (circled) are the locals, the farmers, those who'll be affected. Such fucking arrogance!

@Nigger8814 @bizlet7 No we don’t. We reached Ireland from North West Spain. One name for us is literally ‘the Milesians’ (from King Milus of Galicia in Spain). The 1529 Treaty of Dingle conferred Spanish citizenship on any indigenous Irish person (or Gaelic Scot) as a result.

YouGov an A rated pollster has Plaid Cymru 14 points ahead of Reform the English nationalist party packed full of washed up Conservatives that gave #Wales 14 years of austerity.

@Jayfuz Do they think any money saved would actually be spent here? If UK Government spending in Wales on reserved matters is anything to go by, devolution is the only way we actually GET investment

@YoungmanMj @SPTomos @ceritheviking So in reality you can join a new party after election in all but name? Can sit as an "independent" but vote with the other party on every issue, join their meetings and even be offered a job as an independent rep?

@DJP695 At the current rate of increase it would take thousands of years for any language to catch up to Welsh let alone English, Welsh is the second most spoken language in every single part of Wales and no other language comes close.

@HistoryVareck @AviWoolf Those numbers aren't correct unfortunately, the 2021 census saw a further decline to 17.8%, the figure on the right is from the Annual Population Survey which uses different criteria.

@AviWoolf I'm not sure how they did it but the Irish probably should talk to the Welsh about the revival of their language because it's honestly very impressive

@SeneddWaste @Joe___Allen @Moreincommon_ There's no such thing as a losers coalition, the winners are whoever is able to form a stable government. If your policies are so objectionable that no one will work with you then you haven't won squat.

@Joe___Allen @Moreincommon_ A Plaid led administration is more or less a foregone conclusion now. The only way to prevent it is a miraculous Labour recovery. Reform can and should come first but even in that scenario the voting system will ensure a “losers coalition” is formed.

Friday's @Moreincommon_ Senedd poll tightened up the odds between Plaid and Reform a bit. But Plaid remain favourite. Implied chance - Plaid 62% / Reform 37% / Lab 1%

@DiscePuer @NSNO1878UTFT @BasilTheGreat Not a single accident has ever been attributed to the bilingual signage and there is no additional risk associated with them, they are common all over the world even up to quadrilingual signs.

@NSNO1878UTFT @BasilTheGreat It isn't. It breaches the Department for Transport manual of road sign design rules in that it sacrifices clarity but 'cos nationalist nutters, Scotland and Wales get dispensation. This is a very unfunny joke when you encounter it at 50 mph in torrential rain at night.👇🏻

@lynnema01154666 @Heccles94 That simply isn't true, the differences between dialects of Welsh are no more pronounced than the differences between dialects of English, Welsh speakers from one part of the country have no real difficulties understanding Welsh speakers from another part of the country.

@Heccles94 I am Welsh born and bred and no one in my family or orbit speaks or understands the Welsh language and the Welsh language is different in different parts of Wales, so a Welsh speaker from North Wales would not recognise the Welsh language from the South

This vandalism is unacceptable. Over 80% of people in Wales do not speak Welsh. They must be respected. It’s disgraceful that separatist activists travel hundreds of miles to places like Monmouthshire to deface English road signs. They must face the consequences of their actions.

@SPTomos @dafydd_rees @AndrewRTDavies Cardiff LA figures have to discount those who moved from W and NW Wales to gobble up S4C and BBC Wales. (Mainly Pontcanna but includes Canton, Llandaff etc. Throwing blanket figures which include kids in WM, adults doing WFA courses etc etc is utterly misleading and disingenuous.

@SBadkerville @dafydd_rees @AndrewRTDavies There are 42,757 Welsh speakers in Cardiff and 13,124 Welsh speakers in Newport, meanwhile there are only 2,239 Urdu speakers, 638 Hindi speakers and 751 Gujerati speakers in the whole of Wales, as I said its not even close.

no religion growth in absolute numbers: 8.1 million islam growth in absolute numbers: 1.2 million relative growth: no religion: 47.6% islam: 32.7% given magnitude, pretty clear the story between the censuses has been one of secularisation and not islamification

Its irreligiousness, not ‘Islamification’, which has made it increasingly dubious to describe Britain as a Christian country. Britain stopped being a Christian country because people like me and Charlotte stopped going to church or even believing in god.
