@malikaveli__ @calebkumiko I can def see that, this album is very “morbid” in the description of his vices but it’s real, that’s why I was such a big JW fan it’s sad but he’s in his most vulnerable state speaking his truth regardless of the judgement, I admire artists like that because that is not easy

@malikaveli__ @calebkumiko The growth is in the acknowledgment, he could’ve easily made an album flexing and had a bunch of features, but having the courage to drop an album running down a list of reasons why your life is “awful” rn honestly is a level of artist growth a lot of rappers haven’t reached

@DadsRap @_Twinndiesel Mr. Morale wasn’t ass… but aside from that point, I think this is one of the albums the artist “needed” to make, for his own mental/creative process, I can’t knock an artist for being vulnerable with us, and it’s not even bad music it’s just not what the masses wanted

@SSJerdo @_Twinndiesel Mr Morale was ass too. I respect trying to change your sound up and be more experimental as an artist but at the same time if you haven’t released an album in five years, your fans are gonna be extremely disappointed when you come out with something totally different.

isaiah rashad’s new album is very vulnerable and raw. it’s incredibly sad to listen to. beautiful and well-made but i would have to be in a specific mood to ever relisten. it’s so deeply personal i can’t believe he shared it with us

I think it just sheds light on the perspective that he’s still in that mindset but at this point in his life he can actually address it which is half the battle, and I think “it’s been awful” is a proper title cause he don’t even know what’s going on it seems, that’s why he’s so vague to me, thats how I interpreted it, it seems like he’s unsure about everything rn which is how we get to a project that sounds as such, niggas forcing the “it’s mid” narrative but I appreciate the vulnerability and tone… I’m just not running back to spin it and that’s been alot of albums this year

Production was great but it also unlike his other projects felt less dynamic. Zay normally has me guessing where the sound will go next. He speaks to rapping on slow beats and that wasnt an issue, its every song i wanted his to cut the show and really talk! Even in the skit when he’s asked 3 things he’s grateful for even tho everything is awful…. His answered was vague and surfaced like the album. “im grateful to be breathing and have agency” .. understandable but again… that could mean tooo many things. Its like he was afraid to go there and i think he had the perfect time to deliver perspective but it was alot more “im on drugs and idk if im done with it” 🤷🏾‍♂️

Y’all do know if he gets through OKC n gets a ring those “GOAT” “Jordan v Bron” debates are over right?
