This is really positive from Josh. When something good happens in Gvt, I will always support it. We should all work cross party to ensure children’s social care gets the attention it deserves.

We’re launching the Fostering Innovation programme today 🚀 All part of our efforts to create homes for another 10,000 children to grow up in foster care by the end of this parliament

We are deeply concerned by the announcement in the King’s Speech that the UK Government is to draft a bill to ban what it calls “abusive conversion practices.” We oppose coercive and abusive practices. But there is already a robust legal framework in place to deal with assault, coercion, harassment, abuse and safeguarding failures. The question Parliament must answer is why new legislation is needed when existing laws already protect people from abusive conduct. Our concern is that this legislation is increasingly being used to pursue a more nefarious objective - creating an affirmation-only framework regarding “gender identity” in which lawful therapeutic exploration is effectively shut down. That would leave same-sex attracted people, vulnerable young people and those struggling with trauma, identity or mental health issues with fewer options for support. Same-sex attracted people should not lose access to lawful counselling because therapeutic neutrality has become politically unacceptable. Poorly drafted legislation could also create wider consequences for families, clinicians, employers and safeguarding professionals. We do not believe new legislation is necessary and we will continue to make the case that existing laws already protect people from genuine abuse — without creating further risks for vulnerable individuals, families and professionals. Please make these points - with personal examples if possible - to your MP, MSP or MA.

Very disappointed to see this included in the Kings Speech. Pitting parents against their children is not the role of the state. The chilling effect on therapists will impact mental health support for all our children and young people.
James Esses@JamesEsses

🚨The government is pushing forward with banning ‘conversion practices’ This will criminalise parents/therapists who don’t affirm children in the belief that they’re ‘trans’. This, combined with the puberty blockers trial, demonstrates that Labour is a danger to children.

They can change out the leader…but it will still be the same old tax-and-spend Labour. They know no other way. Britain needs to be taxed less, and that means getting welfare under control 👇

It doesn't matter what fancy words they use to describe it, this is just another TAX. ...a tax on tourism and in fact all types of overnight stays, whether leisure, business or visiting friends & relatives. Only Labour can believe the way to 'help' a sector is to tax it more!

Keir Starmer is failing because Labour never had a clear plan for government. It doesn't have to be this way. Here's the Kings Speech a government led by @KemiBadenoch would deliver today ⬇️

@AlistairPhilpot Yes. And I’d have done the same if we stood to win all the seats or none. You don’t generally turn down an invitation from the King.

@SWDevonRebecca Rebecca, is it true that an engagement at Buckingham Palace, meant you didn't show up at the election count in Plymouth, to show support for your conservative candidates (only one of whom won)?

My advice to @Conservatives candidates that sadly lost at these set of elections: Take a break, dust yourself down over the weekend, and KBO! I've won and lost many elections over the years; the key to success, with so many things in life, is perseverance!

Almost 1 in 6 universal credit claimants is not British. @Conservatives will stop giving benefits to foreigners…and put British people first. We cannot be a cash machine for the world.

Over 600,000 households claimed more benefits last year than the average take-home pay of a British worker. Tens of thousands claimed more than £50k. That's not fair and it's not affordable. Welfare should be a safety net not a lifestyle choice. That's why @Conservatives will reform the Household Benefit Cap 👇

Proud to have a Party Leader who says it as it is. History shows us why we have to speak out against antisemitism. We have to learn the lessons so the 1930s and 1940s are not repeated.
Kemi Badenoch@KemiBadenoch

You may not agree with me, but you will always know where you stand with me. Today in Billericay, a heckler tried to shout me down as I spoke about the normalisation of hatred towards Jews. I did not back down, because it needs to be said. British Jews are being targeted and too many people are pretending this is the same experience of other minorities. This lady implied Muslims are being similarly targeted. This is simply not true. Let's be honest about what is happening. Certain groups (in particular but not solely Islamic Extremists) are creating a climate of fear and intimidation that is normalising Jew hatred. I will never stand for that. Governments have spent too long hand-wringing, making excuses and hoping it would go away. It is time to call this what it is: a national emergency in our attitude, our urgency and our response. I will always engage with people who disagree with me. That is politics. But there is a difference between argument and intimidation. Shouting does not make a bad case good. It's done to silence others. And it certainly does not change the truth. The truth is that British Jews have been made to feel less safe in their own country. Our country. They are being singled out, threatened and harassed in ways that should shame everyone in public life. If we do not stand up now and stop this rise in antisemitism, then why bother saying "Never Again" at Holocaust Memorial Day? Because this is how it starts. I am not prepared to play along with the pretence that this is normal, or manageable, or just another example of tension between groups. It really is not. It is targeted hatred and it is getting worse. So my message is simple. Not here. Not in Britain. And not on our watch. We need to stop the hand-wringing and start doing the right thing. That means standing with British Jews openly, unapologetically and without fear.
