Hindu Canadian Foundation (HCF) welcomes the adoption of Bill C-9 by the House of Commons and celebrates the unanimous amendment which removed the sacred Swastika from the list of prohibited hate symbols and replaces it with the historically accurate term “Nazi Hakenkreuz.” This landmark victory is the direct result of the sustained and coordinated efforts of the Hindu Canadian Foundation together with over 100 allied organizations across Canada. hinducanadian.org/post/hindu-can… Going forward- no academic institution, politician, government agency, or individual should conflate the sacred Swastika with the Nazi Hakenkreuz. Accurate terminology and educational clarity are essential to prevent harm to Hindu-Canadians and uphold public understanding of our shared heritage. We specifically urge MP @MelissaLantsman and @TorontoPolice to review and correct any past references or displays that failed to make this critical distinction. This must be applied consistently and fairly. HCF will be watching closely Khalistani groups who use symbols of designated terrorist entities like Babbar Khalsa etc. to target and threaten Hindu Canadians) and those who threaten Jewish communities and other faith groups.
