Patients are waiting 21 hours in A&E on a normal day. At the same time, fully qualified doctors are left unemployed while thousands apply for A&E/GP NHS training jobs. This Government had a chance to fix this crisis. Instead, they removed 1,000 extra doctors training jobs.

@MarieTidball What mental health workers did you employ? Because it certainly wasn’t 8500 therapists out of absolutely nowhere. Fully expecting this to be like hiring PAs instead of actual Drs and expecting there to be not serious (and fatal) consequences, Marie.

@MarieTidball Those 8,500 include "support staff" (administrators) But 1.7m are on the waiting list NHS Talking Therapies only achieved 38% Treatment Completion last year And only 47% were considered 'Reliably Recovered' (non-clinical at end of treatment) No evidence of sustained recovery.

@MarieTidball Where are they? Being a MH nurse and Prescriber in CAMHS, vacancies not being replaced, 3 year waiting lists. @BBC @NHS @people_nhs @wesstreeting @ITV shocking state currently 😑

🚨 8,500 extra mental health workers have been recruited in the NHS! We promised to recruit 8,500 more mental health workers in our manifesto, and we've delivered our target 3 years early. Promise made, promise delivered. Lots done, lots more to do.

@MarieTidball Over 8,000 mental health nurses have left the NHS in the last 3 years. We’re still carrying 6,000+ vacancies. Recruitment headlines don’t change the reality on the ground, especially with the ongoing shortage of psychiatrists and doctors across mental health.
