“It will be remembered of Irish patriots that they never forget their suffering brothers… the principle was at stake.”

The British government are willing to spend an extra £13 billion a year on weapons of war.
They are wiling to deploy warships as this illegal and reckless war unfolds.
But they are unwilling to use the powers and finances they have to cut tax on petrol, diesel and home heating oil, and to invest in a serious support package for workers, families, and businesses.
They have the money.
Their priority is weapons for war over supporting people.

NEW: Trump's own supporters are now openly claiming the Butler assassination attempt was staged — and some are demanding he admit it.
This is MAGA turning the conspiracy machine Trump built against him.
A major new report from Wired lays it out: The theory that the July 2024 shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, was a hoax is no longer fringe chatter from the left. It's exploding from inside Trump's own base as his grip on the movement slips.
Popular conservative podcaster Tim Dillon — once a vocal Trump backer — told his audience last weekend that he now believes it “maybe” was staged. He went further, urging Trump to come clean and tell the country something like: “We staged the assassination attempt in Butler to show people how important it was to vote for me and how far I was willing to go for them.”
A day later, far-right commentator Emerald Robinson posted on X that the FBI “did it.” On Telegram, prominent QAnon influencer MJ Truth polled his 100,000 followers on the Butler narrative. The overwhelming majority — nearly all still Trump supporters — responded that yes, it was staged, and the real story would never come out. One follower wrote: “The truth will come out 60+ years from now when we’re all dead and nobody really cares anymore… just like JFK.”
Tucker Carlson has spent months pushing the idea that the FBI lied about the shooter’s online activity as part of a cover-up. Former National Counterterrorism Center director Joe Kent appeared on Carlson’s show and claimed the entire investigation was “prematurely shut down.” No evidence was offered. None was needed — the audience was primed.
And it’s getting darker. Some of these same voices are now calling Trump the Antichrist — not as a meme, but as serious biblical prophecy. They point to the escalating war with Iran, Trump’s repeated posts comparing himself to Jesus Christ, and the AI-generated image he once posted of himself as Christ healing the sick (which he later deleted, claiming it was actually him “as a doctor”).
This is the monster Trump created coming home to roost. For years he trained his followers to distrust every institution — the media, the government, the FBI, the facts themselves — and to believe only him. Now, as gas prices climb, wars drag on, allies pull away, and even the Pope has called him out by name, they’re applying that same paranoid lens to Trump.
Remember: Corey Comperatore, a retired fire chief, was killed shielding his family from real bullets. Two others were critically wounded. Thousands of people witnessed it live, and dozens of cameras captured it. The FBI investigated it as a legitimate assassination attempt.
None of that matters to a movement taught to reject evidence and embrace suspicion.
Trump spent years building a base that doesn’t believe in reality. Now that base is starting not to believe in him either.
This is what happens when you feed people conspiracies for a decade. Eventually they eat their own.

The Defence Forces wishes to extend its sympathies to the family and friends of the French peacekeeper who lost his life today and our thoughts are with his colleagues who are recovering at this time. We strongly condemn any attack on UNIFIL personnel and remind all parties to the conflict of their obligations under international law.
The situation in South Lebanon remains highly volatile, however all Irish personnel are well and accounted for.
Personnel of the 127th Infantry Battalion continue to employ force protection measures enabling them to continue to observe and monitor the ongoing conflict in line with UNSCR 1701. Óglaigh na hÉireann remains resolute in its commitment to UNIFIL.
