scam alert: wanted to share the latest (almost creative) attempt so nobody from our community falls for this. a couple of people reached out to our BD claiming to be from Decrypt. we set up a group chat. they sent a pretty legit list of topics about Fhenix. i even scheduled the “interview.” all normal - especially since we’ve recently spoken to media about DBFV and other updates. fast forward to the call. “stephen” joins with camera off. first red flag. as a former journalist, i can tell you: that’s not how you interview someone 😅 btw, the video below was recorded exactly for that reason - I wanted to have some content for twitter while I talk haha. then he says he already drafted the article. interesting. i hadn’t given him a single quote yet. he sends me a link to “review the draft.” the link asks me to download some random app to open the file. that’s when it became obvious. so i start playing dumb. asking questions. asking for screen share. asking who from our team he discussed this with before. that’s when he starts acting… very weird. tl;dr i told him i’m not downloading anything and he can send a google doc if he wants feedback. do we think he’ll do it? lol lastly, I double-checked with our pr firm @MarketAcross: turns out “stephen” and “stacy” in our group chat were NOT the actual @DecryptMedia accounts. so PLS help to report them on TG (@ GravesSteve and @ stacydecrypt) scammers are getting better every cycle.
