Sacaclí began with 31 members producing grains and beans, but the co-operative had little access to agricultural inputs, consumer goods or finance. ​ Today, they have almost 500 members, including 87 coffee producers, and are recognised for high-quality coffee while prioritising environmental protection, traceability, soil health, and community well-being. ​ Since 2018, Shared Interest has supported Sacaclí with finance to secure and deliver on coffee contracts. ​ General Manager, Alex, said: “The relationship between Co-operative Sacaclí and Shared Interest has been fundamental for the development of our organisation ... In 2025, we lent £57.95m to 165 organisations in 42 countries across the globe. These funds reached over 130,000 women, providing stability and opportunity to farmers, artisans and their families.​ Beatrice Biira is one of these women. At 63 years old, Beatrice has farmed coffee since 1986 and has been a member of Ugandan coffee co-operative Bukonzo since 2003.​ As a widow, Beatrice lives with her young grandchildren and financially supports them with costs, including school fees.​ Beatrice told us: "Bukonzo have enabled me to help my children grow up."​ Shared Interest has supported Bukonzo with finance since 2014, enabling the business to pay farmers and invest in growth. Farmers’ Voice Radio (FVR) aims to connect smallholder farmers in rural communities through a new and exciting medium, helping to address farmers’ concerns whilst building skills and knowledge.​ The Farmers’ Voice Radio Academy was launched in 2022 and works with co-operatives to support producers’ to set up their own radio programme. ​ In 2024, the FVR Academy launched in Latin America. Since then, 12 coffee co-operatives have participated from Peru, Honduras and Nicaragua, including several Shared Interest customers.
