@SharonG @AmiDar I was just querying your view of the Naqba as a process of a “few” not “joining” in the partition of the land rather than it being the forced upheaval of many Palestinians from their ancestral land. I don’t think the Naqba was or is a voluntary process.

“Why can’t the Palestinians move to Egypt or Jordan?” For the same reason that Chileans don’t want to move to Mexico or Argentina. It’s their home, they love it, and they have a right to live where they were born. Not hard.

@tomaashby This is hilarious, and I’ve shared widely, but for many programs this has changed dramatically. Grad students now make more than most NTT faculty who have PhDs, assuming the TA line is 1/2 time employment. And summer pay, health insurance, tuition, and limited to assist 6 hrs/wk!

For clarification, the ad says "University Authorized FTE: 1.0", but then in the body it says "openings for 30 tenured and/or tenure-track faculty positions in Artificial Intelligence". So, are these openings to be filled as part of some multi-year plan with only 1 hire authorized this cycle? Or does UMD have the capacity to hire up to 30 TT faculty this cycle?
